Yet on the flip side, the womens game actually gets a disproportionate amount of coverage and promotion relative to its interest and engagement. Does it? or is it because broadcasters have been priced out of showing other sports? Broadcasters are always going to hype the product they're putting out... Agreed, but it’s C4 that have the rights to the WC isn’t it? I can’t help but agree with fn9 that the BBC’s promotion is not coming from a genuine belief in the quality of the product but simply a wish to be seen as being the most PC and far left media outlet in order to generate clicks because being far left is de rigueur these days. That of course is not women footballers fault and this is actually part of a much bigger debate across the whole BBC site as pretty much every article that isn’t factual/news related seems to at the very least touch on what it’s like to be a woman or minority woman in today’s society. Women’s football is an extension of this creeping BBC bias imo.

Although I'm not a fan of the women's game, I have found the BBC 3 fly on the wall documentary series about West Ham Ladies to be very interesting. Anybody else watched it?

Ah I stand corrected it is on the BBC this year, so yeah Whilst I do believe the BBC have a very left wing/SJW appeasing agenda at the moment their holding do the rights makes a lot of sense as to why they are promoting women’s football ‘higher up the page’ than lower league football. It will be interesting to see the viewing figures they gather. I expect England v Scotland will actually be a big draw.

I’ve not seen it but the synopsis alone was a turn off. How can the women’s game demand credibility when the owner of West Ham gives the managers job to his teenage son for a documentary? The players themselves should have better standards than getting involved in that nonsense.

Matt Beard is the manager and he led them to 7th in the league and runners up in the FA Cup.

It makes total sense why they are promoting the women's WC now. Far less so during the regular season when transfers of female players make the main headline.

I don't think the BBC have marketed the programme very well - I held off watching at first, as I assumed it was about a spoilt rich kid and his new "toy". As pirate said, Jack Sullivan isn't the manager, and I've found the behind the scenes look at what goes into running a women's team, recruiting players, and their off the field lifestyles etc to be informative and interesting.

Another player I'm looking forward to watching is the France striker Marie-Antoinette Katoto. Only 20, she impressed in the Champions League this season, was top scorer in the French league and named the Young Player of the Year in France for both 17/18 and 18/19 seasons. A former UEFA Women's U19 Championship Player of the Tournament and top scorer, I expect her to have a big impact this summer. Scrap that, she hasn't even been included in tbe squad! Big surprise to me, but shows tbe quality and depth that France have.

Renard is a class act. Comfortable on the ball and dominant in the air. Can see her getting her hat-trick in the 2nd half.

With the Woman's world cup just around the corner, will we be watching? The Woman's game has made great strides in recent years just a shame that Rovers from being one of the pioneers have been left behind, how did the move to the dark side happen?personally i am very impressed with pundits Sue Smith ,Alex Scott and the like but are not that enthusiastic about watching games, would be interesting to know the forums views , any lady members out there? I'm optimistic that the coverage and interest that the women's world cup is generating might have a knock on effect for the men's netball game, which is so unfairly ignored by the media.

That's because it doesn't fit the narrative...
