And a GK...lol While this is a cracking signing at this level, but as was said cogs has to almost rebuild this squad so will whilehold judgement until after summers work is done! Will be looking forward with season if this is the quality continutes after he first 3 signings have been. Oh yeah...forgot the keeper! To be fair, it didn't need a complete rebuild. The results he got in the secomd half of the season suggest that the squad wasn't as poor as is sometimes made out. It is being rebuilt because he got rid of so many. That's fine - the manager's perogative, and if it brings an improved style of play then it's to be encouraged - but this will truly be his squad this season. That's three signings he's made now. One a definite hit, one a 'jury out' for me at the moment, and this one very good on paper. Encouraging.

I’m not sure it was Coughlan’s intention to completely tear things up to start again, only 5 senior players were released and two of them were keepers that couldn’t get in the side. However with Lockyer, J Clarke and potentially Partington deciding not to return and Bonham, Jakubiak and Osho returning to their parent clubs, it has turned into a bigger task than before. I’m hoping Bonham will resign pretty soon, it’ll provide us with a massive boost before pre season by saving us having to look for an untested replacement and make the job of building a team more easier for Coughlan.

Anyone else just a little excited to see Mark Little and THD bombing it down the flanks from full back? I might be getting a bit carried away but we have on paper 2 quality league 1 full backs I just hope the rest of the signings are of the same quality. Irene

Irene I still wouldn't be surprised to see both Kelly and THD bombing down our left wing, as otherwise the former is going to get frustrated sat on the bench every week. As far as the suggestion that we may play with wings backs next season, letting JC leave perhaps suggests GC intends sticking to his favoured 4-4-2? Otherwise we now need replacements for both Locks and JC in the starting 11.

Looks a good signing and shows GC's ambition to go for a player who's played more games at a higher level than League One.
Anyone know if he was injured last season and that's why he played so few games?

Looks like a huge upgrade on anyone who appeared at r/b last season.Maybe GC has learned a big lesson in having full backs/wing backs that can take the game to the opposition and therefore spend a lot of time on the front foot instead of backs to the wall football all game.Very encouraging signing.

Good signing.
He’s got the ability to put crosses in for Jono. The type delivery that we saw JCH put away. You can see quite simply how some patterns might emerge from this.

Good signing. Had we kept locks and Bonham I think a back 5 of them, Little, THD and Craig would have been even better than this season's.

Fair comment re those players who decided to leave, as opposed to being released. With Bonham effectively leaving too, that job just got harder.

Pleased with the signing . Based on his career to date you'd have to say he should be an upgrade on Clarke and I was a fan of JC.
However, with Bonham siging for the Gills we still have an awful lot of transfer business to do, particularly at the back.
Keepers and Defenders Last Season
GK - Bonham (Gone) GK - Smith (Gone) GK - Slocombe (Gone) RB - Clarke (Gone) RB - Leadbitter (Gone) RB - Partington (Unknown) LB - Holmes Dennis LB - Kelly CB - Lockyer (Gone) CB - Craig CB - Broadbent (Gone) CB - Kilgour
I didn't count Osho as he never played but last season prior to Broadbents departure in January those were our options for keeper and defence. 9 Defenders and 3 Keepers.
As it stands - including Kilgour and our new signing Mr Little - we have 5 Defenders and no keepers.

I am still convinced that there is a good pacey devil down the wing in there somewhere.

Considering that our defensive record was our strongest suit last season and seeing how it has been decimated, it's hard to see us staying up unless Coughlan's recruitment is very, very good (and to be fair, any manager is entitled to make some signings that don't work out).

Good signing, plenty of experience to add to our side.
Hopefully more signings are on there way.
