I have just remarked to the wife that once she's finished the ironing could sort the tea out in the kitchen provided she wears a pinny - not to sure about my chances later UTG Funny enough, I was doing the ironing today and cooked tea. No, I didn't wear a pinny.

I notice they don't take their shirt off and whip it around their heads when they score. Maybe you're too young to remember Not The Nine o'clock News.

But yeah, the Women's World Cup. Looking forward to it. Got Australia v India cricket on the laptop. While I stream the Australia women's game on the desktop. While drinking homemade cider. Did I mention it's a bank holiday here tomorrow.

Are you for real. I could say worse but I’m too much of a lady to drop my standards to yours. And I bet even at my age I could give you the runaround with the ball at my feet. Out of interest tinkerbell , have you been involved in woman’s football ? I’d like to know if the crowds are now getting bigger ? I used to watch but other things got in the way. When I did watch, crowds were sparse. I did enjoy the skill levels very much. I think our club made a huge mistake in letting our original ladies team go but I’m led to believe it was due to financing it rather than not wanting it. Maybe you could clear that up if you are able. Thanks in advance

As I said I was clearly mistaken but just in the wrong area. Thanks for your advice. Seems I can look forward to many more sexist views or maybe other bigoted options over the summer. Who said our club wasnt ready for the future. Sepp Blatter would no doubt approve of the views expressed here. Trouble is, however we moderate, whatever we do, some fighter for freedom and righteousness will come along and demand we do it differently. Everyone has a different line which they draw between stupid and unacceptable. Never a truer word spoken. We all view things through our own and unique filters.

The PE teacher wanted me to play for the school side but I wasn’t allowed. The first team I joined did only play in front of small crowds. The better teams had bigger crowds but again sparse. Biggest crowd I played in front of was just over 2000. There were some excellent players around. Imagine if there had been proper coaching. It was expensive as the league covered a massive area. I got badly injured two weeks before going training with the England team. I was also a qualified ref. After the the end of my career I took some coaching awards and did coach the girls for a short while until rovers took them over. I thought it was a shame when the club let the girls go. I think they missed the boat. It must have been still expensive. oh to be fifty years younger and all the opportunities there are today for girls who love football.

Nice one and well done on your achievements. Good to hear from someone who has had experience of the woman’s game
