Yup. It's anyone's guess how many attending fans we'll lose for every year we're down here. Sign a striker now before we're left with a even smaller budget.

Spot on Buckrippers. Through youtube, the telly and actually attending games I have seen so many chances created this season and not scored. If we weren't creating then we would have a problem but where do we get this magical striker from? The dead wood from last season were got rid of during the summer and DC supposedly signed these strikers that were sh** hot in this league so why would we think he's not going to bring in another flop

i know i'll get knocked for this but:
this is our first season in the conference, and to be fair we could be doing a lot, lot worse given what many fans predicted at the start of the campaign.... as for the football and the finishing, well myself like many others find it frustrating, but we are a conference side, and lets be honest, we are so far a pretty competitive one, and in time we will improve....
feel free to kick me in the nuts in 6 months time....

We need to do something because Cunnington is only with us for another 3-4 weeks.
Ideal situation with no new buys: Balanta fit and firing, Brunt back fit strong and scoring, Taylor hits a goalscoring vein, Harrison terrorising defences, White plenty goals from supersub
Bad situation with no new buys: Balanta not fit, Brunt out in the cold, Taylor misses the vein, Harrison's threat snuffed out, White anonymous
I worry about who we would be able to get in. Any striker performing at their peak is not going to leave to join Rovers from Conference, L2 or L1, so we go on reputation. This is exactly what we did with Deek Riordan and look where that got us.
From reports Harry White seems promising, but has no experience at this level.

i guess my point is that;
with the nature of our relegation many lost confidence in the club (and rightly so).... but, wouldn't we have all been happy with 6th in the conference in late October if it was offered to us in august....
i think so....

Are we getting parachute payments from the FL and if so do they stop next year, anyone know? I'm wondering why people so often say that if we don't go up this year it will get harder. I don't see why. We've lost very little support after two relegations and our players are not successful FL players who are courted by higher clubs. Why would next season be so much harder? After all, two of the best teams in the Conference will be gone next year.

i don't really get this idea about gasheads turning up for novelty values in this league either....
it's about a loyal bunch of fans realising that their team needs them. i could think of another 100 ways to spend £100 but i choose to support rovers....
and trust me, there's been absolutely no novelty value incurred thus far....

I certainly don't go for the novelty either, but I am convinced of a hardening in our core support.
Last days at Eastville we could count on a core of 3500-4000 with 1500 floaters Twerton core was as low as 2500, but picked up during good seasons.
The last 5 years has seen a core of 5000 remain loyal in relegation from L1 & L2 + Increasing numbers of away support!
In my own mind, I feel it is now a duty to support my team in its lean years. I think many more feel the same.

i do tell a lie about the novelty value in a way, as i got to feed a cow at Eastleigh, a horse at forest green, and i could've fed some ducks at Aldershot but i didn't have any bread

Thing is I don't actually blame DC for our signings up front. Ok he brought them in and yes they haven't scored enough but White has a good record in this and the div below and cunnington was top scorer in the conference playing for a worse side than ours the season before last. Taylor gas rarely been prolific but is clearly a decent footballer. We were pretty much all happy when they were signed and talking of our happiness at signing proven scorers at this level. For some reason it's not working but are we really going to get someone in with a better record than White or Ac ? And if we do will they fail to score enough too ? Probably and I just can't put my finger on how to put it right to be honest, but I think the main reasons are these...
For Cunnington to score plenty you need two decent wingers getting crosses in and we haven't had that... Ever. For white to score plenty we need him fit and we need him playing consistently , we haven't had that...yet. If we had a couple of proper wingers on either side AC would have a field day and White would feed off the scraps poacher style. We've been saying on here for years " we need a striker ". We've brought them in and it hasn't happened. I actually think its a complete waste of time playing a target man if we don't bring a couple of wingers in. We're flogging AC to death and basically taking the water out of him and wasting his time by playing the way we do with only one poor winger in the squad ( Martin). The players we've got in the side particularly once AC has left would suit keeping it on the deck. In other words to sum up what I'm saying is that we haven't got the squad balance right to play a direct - wingers- target man game yet we're still trying to do it, and because we're not getting anything decent out wide the ball to AC goes down the middle he's got his back to goal and it's easy for the opposition to deal with, basically the same as last season. I think the biggest reasons we've done alright this season is Trottman who has been outstanding and Sinclair who plays every game like its the Cup final. Other than that the similarities in the way we play and personal not being suited to it are pretty much identical to last season. I don't blame DC for bringing Cunnington and White to the club but I do think he can't see how to get the best out of them, so I blame him for that and it's bloody frustrating.

Cunnington was not a leading goal scorer last season as he only scored 8, Taylor was deemed surplus to requirements by FGR, and White spent most of last season injured, as did of course Brunt.
It's no real surprise none of them is on form this season

I think to buy or not to buy depends on what can be bought. DC will keep trying to find someone and enough money may be made available, but it isn't like buying from a shop, as we are all aware. If he can find someone then great, but there's no point giving up and wasting the money on a player he doesn't believe in.
We started this season with a new team that took a little time to settle. We may not have lost to Barnet had we played them a few weeks later and we certainly wouldn't have lost at Altrincham. Also, it may be that we will find a goal scorer yet, though having lost points for half a season without him. All this makes me think that we may be stronger next year. This is not a tough league, whatever people like to say, but very few teams get out first time, probably because they have to rebuild.

It's no real surprise none of them is on form this season AC was leading conference scorer the season before last a believe ? That was what my post said. And I do believe that he would score plenty if we had at least half decent wingers- both sides. As we don't have any decent wingers we might as well send him back now. My point in my post was we don't seem to have a philosophy. Are we a direct 4-4-2 side ? If so where are the wingers ? Are we going to get it down and dominate sides by pushing up on the front foot like the better sides do ? Then why don't we try doing that ? We've not no direction or plan the the second we win possession. I'd love us to suddenly bring in a new striker and start scoring loads but just don't see it happening if we continue to play without any direction.

The club has lacked direction for many years.
