Not sure I would like the Premiership except as a brief money spinning cameo appearance, anything else would rip out the soul from the club. Having said that, if it ever happened no doubt I would change my mind.
If I could influence things my preference would be yo-yoing between top of L1 and mid table Championship in a modest (think Keepmoat or Home Park style) ground. Enough space for 15,000 or so with regular promotion and relgation battles to keep things interesting.

Bournemouth, Swansea, Cardiff, Reading, etc were our equals not so long ago and have all experienced Premier League football. We should have the same ambition.

Personally, I'd love to see us in the Prem and stay there. UTG!

I hate...and I mean hate everything the premiership has become today, and it will make it worse when the "non Bristoians" of this city start becoming Bristol City fans overnight when BCFC reach the top flight. (I hate the bastards, but they are set up for the top level and it will happen for them in the next 5 years.Fair play to the loyal City fans that are like you or I tho when it happens for them.
15 years ago I would have said premiership.I would still like that, but paying the money that is at that level and being apart of a souless worldwide boring brand is nothing that interests me.Give me a new 20/25k ground and us being able to show our potential and being well run is all I care about. And if thats done there is no reason why we couldnt be a top Championship/mid premiership side one day given our Cities and potential fanbase size.

Championship as hate the beast that is the premier league! I’d lose touch with the gas if they got that far and started paying stupid money etc Union Berlin unfurled a flag (actually previous season) "Scheisse, wir steigen auf". (Sh*t, we're going up). They went up for the first time in their history season just gone. Brilliant! The identity of the Football Club is actually more important than how well you are doing in the league. So - yes, established in the Championship (obviously in a new stadium - with terraces / safe standing) would do me just fine. It's part of the Rovers "identity" that we have never played in tier 1 of English football. The only 'bigger' Clubs (in terms of support base) that haven't played in tier 1 are Plymouth and MK Dons. (And MK Dons have less history than even bcfc1982 so they don't count).

As long as we play entertaining football and are in the mix for promotion or play off then I’d like to see us in the championship and compete there. Bloody Yeovil got there so no reason we shouldn’t. It seems we, as a fanbase, have low expectations but it’s no surprising when you have seen so many schemes come to nought. We had the best chance of moving in after the promotion to where we are but no investment meant we have stagnated and many, who started to come back, have stopped.

Hope VAR never comes in as it will be as disliked as VAT! It will become norm for the game to finish at ten past five or 10 o clock for night games. 1 referee is bad enough let alone a mini coach load. The whole entertainment will be ruined and the atmosphere will go with constantly having to wait for decisions. Much better to have somebody to blame ie the referee for poor decisions.Keep it to the Premier League and let us continue to enjoy our football. for me the rules should be left alone and the only thing for me that would improve the experience at our level League 1 is goalline technology. Football for me is far less entertaining than the 60s/70s because defenders skills have been taken away and will be even worse this season where an essential part of being a successful team will be to have a good penalty taker. The new goalkeeping rules for penalties will make saving them that much more difficult and the funiest thing will be where if they cant identify who caused foul play then the Head coach gets booked or sent off!! At least if we maintain our standard it will delay a lot of the changes that threaten the live enjoyment of our gae. Agree with this completely. Top post.

We would never have won the World Cup in 1966 if VAR was around then but we could have won it in 1986.

Those that had come back but now have stopped because we’ve had a few poor seasons will come back again when we start winning games. Fickleness is rife amongst football fans and Gasheads are no different..... apart from the true ones 😉

Establishing ourselves as a Championship Club is surely the aim. I have a few Swansea workmates who remember their days in L2. It was an incredible ride to the premier league but many said they lost their club identity, with new plastic fans popping up and it didn’t feel the same. The club seemed to change and I can’t stand the idea of Rovers losing their identity, it’s what keeps us running. UTG
