Possibly Clark's worse signing and part of his own downfall - good riddance to bad news

signing that termination is best performance by Payne in a rovers shirt. Surprised he didn't miss the paper!

Good. Now use the money it has released, if any, to make a signing to replace him. Let’s hope it’s a better signing this time, someone with the right attitude would be a start. UTG!

So does mutual termination mean that Rovers don’t have to pay out the rest of his contract or only pay a small amount of it? Either way this is excellent news as we all knew he wouldn’t feature for us again and it frees up wages for hopefully someone much better to come in.

I guess we had to fork out for that, then. It's a shame, in football, sometimes the worse you perform, the more leverage you get.

I guess it means they had along chat with his agent. Of course, the more desperate we are to get rid of him, the better his position. Otoh, the better his attitude, and the keener he is to seek a decent contract with a new club, the less we might have to fork out. So basically, we were shafted, probably.

I was under the impression that if the club terminates a players contract, they have to pay the rest of it up but if it’s done on mutual terms, the club can pay the player a smaller amount. You never know, Payne could of been keen for some game time, in January he could have stayed with us and collected his wage sitting on the bench but he went out on loan to Shrewsbury.

One of the best bits of business the club could have done this summer. Can’t remember a departure welcomed as much as this since Mark Wright.
Now he’s signed for Tranmere, I’m looking forward to seeing and hearing the reaction when he comes to the Mem!

He's played a blinder if he wanted to leave, probably picked up a signing on fee then a nice parting gift! He's got to be our most expensive flop of all time? I wonder where we stand with his pay off as far as SCMP/FFP is concerned is that counted in our playing budget or separately, although I guess the ALQ's are going to count it as part of GC's playing budget regardless!!
