Realistically, how many more signings are people expecting between now and the end of the window? I think we’ll sign a CB (maybe Scales?), 1 x winger and 1 x striker. Perhaps a CM on loan, too. Ideally I’d like a couple of wingers in, but I’d guess that depends on whether GC will be keeping Bennett or not. If GC can get Bennett playing like a winger and also playing for the full game he could be a decent winger at this level. If so, then we just need a decent ACM and goalscoring No 10, which are probably two of the hardest positions to fill. If we do get them and the back 5 then plays as good as it looks on paper we could actually have a decent season.

I can't understand why people would want Jakubiak. Of 4 strikers that would mean we would have 1 goalscorer. What happens if JCH can't replicate his outstanding run from last season? Where will the goals come from?

He’s a fair weather player, when the going is good he could be a threat but the reason he was shipped out to Swindon was because he can’t do the hard graft and is lightweight. If he stays on the books past the deadline and we are actually playing well then he’s a good option to have if we are keeping the ball a lot but if it looks like we could be in for a tough season then I wouldn’t want him here, I don’t think many others would either.

Also, as the 1st of July seems a good time for it, I thought I'd take a look at the movements of some of Pirate's 50 player shortlist this window:
Bradley Collins (GK, released by Chelsea) - Signs for Barnsley Joe Day (GK, out of contract at Newport) - Signs for Cardiff City Jamie Devitt (AM/RM/LM, out of contract at Carlisle) - Signs for Blackpool Paul Downing (CB, released by Blackburn) - Signs for Portsmouth Frank Fielding (GK, out of contract at Bristol City) - Signs for Millwall Tarique Fosu (AM/RW, Charlton) - Signs for Oxford Danny Mayor (LM, out of contract at Bury) - Signs for Plymouth Josh Morris (LM/LB/CM, out of contract at Scunthorpe) - Signs for Fleetwood Tommy Rowe (LM/LB/CM, released by Doncaster) - Signs for Bristol City Nathan Trott (GK, West Ham) - Joins AFC Wimbledon on loan

Seems like we've taken a huge gamble on the goalkeeping situation, neither having anywhere near the experience we would ideally want. However, these things can often work out.
So we've now replaced everything we lost defensively. Absolutely imperative that we sign a creative central midfielder, otherwise JCH, Nichols and Reilly will just be watching the ball sail over their heads again.
Second priority would be a striker, which given Payne's departure would seem a realistic aim.
Less concerned about width, given that Rodman, Little and Hare are on the books on the right, with Bennett, THD on the left (and Sercombe able to play there if needs be). Personally, I'd be happy to give Bennett a go as he offers the ability to go past a player, something no other player does. If he doesn't want Bennett though, I'd want a replacement.

From a budget point of view, I'm wondering if he's considering using Kelly and THD as a winger/lb duo rather than competition for each other?

I'm not going to recognise anyone on the pitch next season at this rate.
It's a weird thing about football. Anyone can wear our shirt and you still support them. For the first 10 minutes, anyway.
I went to see Dr Feelgood a few years ago, and it was the real band, not a tribute act, because each member had been introduced over many years. But there was no one left from the original band. They felt fake to me.
To be honest I'd have Holloway back tomorrow, but in midfield, not as manager.

On the occasions when we employed it last season, it seemed to work really well. Kelly has come on leaps and bounds in his defensive side whilst we all know what a dangerous player THD can be going forward when he gets on the ball. To me, it would be a good combination.

It funny how people view performances completely differently
I've never seen Bennett go past a man and certainly never seen any tricks, not even a step over.
What I have seen is him run with the ball and soon as anyone from the opposition closes him down, he just stops dead and we lose all momentum and give the opposition chance to get their shape back.
For his alleged big wages, we could (and should) expect someone better to replace him.

He had a decent first 6 months then like a few players lost his way completely last season, i guess if he's on the rumoured £4K a week then do we pay that in full and hope we get the Bennett from the first 6 months or pay him £2K a week and send him off to Swindon so they can pay the pother £2K a week. Although they apparently won't sign him till 1 August anyway, so perhaps he's just still here in pre-season in order to get fit.

Agreed. Need another proper wide option and play THD in his natural position. Totally agree on THD sticking to Leftback. I like to see a wideman and fullback operate in tandem, Rodman and Little could work well down the right and we need someone to play left wing/left midfield in front of THD. Preferably with someone intelligent to cut inside occasionally leaving room for THD to overlap. i know Sercs doesn't like playing wide but last season some of his better games were from the left, especially when Rodman hugs the touch line on the other flank with Sercs having license to cut in more. If we can't get a good quality left sided attacker (a few have already been snapped up by others) I wouldn't be averse to Sercs playing there again. The likes of Zidane and Scholes liked being central but played a lot coming in from the left!

Can anybody remember what GC's comments were on Having A Gas at the end of the season in regards to how he wants to play this season? I can only remember him mentioning pressing high.
Just looking at the players in the squad now and who we've been linked to and wondering if there's a chance we go without wingers? We've got Rodman and Nichols who have both played wide of front threes, plus linked to Jakubiak who's been used wide for us. Add in the potential new CB and I'm wondering if we go to a wing-back look with a back 3.
The potential to play 5-3-2, 5-4-1, 4-4-2 (Diamond) and 4-3-3 depending on circumstances. Want to point out, that I'm not saying we will or should go without wingers, just wondering if it's a possibility.

Fast expansive with width and with our new ballboys controlling game management 😂 you re right also pressing high, he said he wants to see attractive football guess Greenway from the lionesses is a target 😂
