I can't understand why people would want Jakubiak. Of 4 strikers that would mean we would have 1 goalscorer. What happens if JCH can't replicate his outstanding run from last season? Where will the goals come from? Those 2 goals v Oxford suggest he has goals in him and good ones at that - GC and staff must think this too. He's still only 21/22 and as GC said despite that he's had a few loans here and there. If he puts his roots down he may come good. He also does have a good turn of pace - always an asset up front ! I'd be happy to give him a year with an extension agreement based on appearances/goals (in 1st season).

I wouldn't mind taking a punt on Jakubiak but if we can only bring in one striker then I think we need somebody with a better record.
Otherwise we'd be going with the same strikers as last year:
Jakubiak - 2 League Goals, 3 Assists (38 Appearances)
Reilly - 4 League Goals, 0 Assists (30 Appearances)
Nichols - 1 League Goal, 7 Assists (36 Appearances)

Yes I agree - we've got a problem here. I'd happily loan out/sell Nichols or Reilly and get Jak in with possibly one other new forward now Payne's been offloaded and Moore hasn't signed (yet). So JCH, Jak, Reilly or Nichols and a new guy - 4 strikers is the usual number ??

When you see that (7 goals & 10 assists in 104 games) it is bloody shocking! We definitely need another striker as there are no guarantees that JCH will keep banging them in as he has been.

I like Jakubiak but if we want to really push on, we need 2 strikers who can score relatively consistently.
I'd much rather have Clarke & JCH up front (potentially the best strike force in the league) with Nichols & Reilly as back up as they both offer a different but good game

It seems pointless mim signing two decent goalies and RB's etc, then playing a non scoring striker upfront.

Hopefully Reilly adapts to the league more this season and can chip in with more goals.

Maybe Kavanagh will step up, start like a train and make himself undroppable

Was set to announce a signing today but it has fallen through... Any idea who the player was?? Scales, as I’m led to understand it

It’s good to see Rovers doing business early. Players need time to settle and get into pre-season training.

Regarding the player that ‘fell through’ yesterday. The graphics company were booked to come in for a signing. Then got put on standby and then cancelled. I personally think it was scales who wanted to delay the move to play his final game last night. If we are signing him I think it will be announced when we are in Ireland. He won’t come to Bristol for just one day.

But any player relocating, especially from overseas, would need some time to sort out belongings, find accommodation etc. I doubt he would sign, relocate and start work all in the same day or 2. He would have stuff to sort out back in Ireland. Which is why this one may make sense to do whilst we are out there. If it indeed happens at all.
