Notts County have no money to pay wages and no "definitive" buyer to takeover the stricken club, says Nottingham South MP Lilian Greenwood following a meeting with the club's owner.
Notts had a winding-up petition in June adjourned until 10 July to allow Alan Hardy more time to sell the club.
Ms Greenwood revealed that she was told three potential buyers are "jostling" to complete a deal.
Since Notts' last hearing, players and staff have not been paid June's wages.
Talking to BBC Radio Nottingham, Ms Greenwood said she is "deeply concerned" for those who "rely on Notts County Football Club for a living".
"It must be a very uncertain future for all of them," she added.
The Labour MP said she was "disappointed" that Hardy "refused" to meet with the club's supporters himself as "fans are angry, worried about the future of the club they love".

Notts owner Hardy, who has had parts of his interior design company Paragon sold off by administrators, first put the financially-troubled club up for sale in January.
Since then, the 157-year-old club was relegated from the English Football League for their first time in their history, having been a founding member of the competition in 1888.
Colin Slater, a former BBC correspondent who has followed Notts County for 60 years, said the club is in a "sad state of affairs".
"It is the biggest crisis I've known at Notts County," he told BBC Radio Nottingham.
"Notts desperately need a buyer to come on the scene and be willing to pay a realistic sum.
"It hasn't happened for six months and they now need it to happen as quickly as possible for someone to come on the scene with money and the intention of making Notts County a league club again."
BBC Sport have contacted Notts County for comment.

We’re lucky this wasn’t us after we dropped out of the league

Went to the last away match against them with my travelling buddy. Had a drink in a nearby microbrewery bar with a couple of County fans. They were pretty disillusioned then & were boycotting games. Seems to have got worse. Great shame & indicative of the game in this country.

Is it worth noting how well Nick Higgs did to not only keep the club together when we went into the Conference, but to get promotion straight away, taking nothing away from DC of course, but NH had to provide the groundwork.

Good point nobbygas and he was a true gashead who tried very hard to get us a stadium.

Very true. He gets such a roasting on here, and he was far from perfect (who is?), but he did the best he possibly could for the club, and not for personal gain.

It was his utterly disastrous groundwork which led us into non league football, and he got very, very lucky in the end.

And he knew a watertight contract when he saw one. He had a go but failed but he kept us alive and kicking. Without wanting to go over the same ground again I think that's debatable considering he took out a payday loan for the club.

Old ground I know, but remember when it was doom & gloom on here and the forecast was that we were days away from Administration......over a 2m quid debt. What is the debt now? Just saying.

Sir Nick will always be a hero of mine for the why he guided the club back to league football by supporting DC in our hour of need

Those Conference fans will be wetting their pants when they see Meadow Lane.
They probably felt apprehensive about our history and big stadium. Until they saw the Mem and felt a little more at home.

I feel Bury's plight is just as dire as Notts County - even Man City are now kicking them out of Carrington their training ground. Man City own Carrington but Bury have let the ground fall into disrepair and have told them to quit. A club with no money - no training facilities - no manager - few players - unable to recruit players - a chairman who's not interested. A real shame a club with arguably as much history as Notts County - I really can't see how they can survive.

All these people queuing up to buy Bolton, istm NC would be a much more desirable purchase. You get the oldest team in the world, decent fanbase (not as proper as Tranmere, of course), decent stadium, and it's not hemorrhaging money like Bolton (it's losing some but who isn't?). It only takes a few year to right a ship like that, whereas the fallen prem teams seem to take a lot longer to sort out.
