I do think a valid point to make is that we havenāt received a transfer fee that we can reinvest in the playing squad like we have done in previous seasons. Last year we sold Harrison, the year before that Bodin and the year before that Taylor and though we arguably didnāt get as much we could of done for them, the revenue received was still enough to pay for the wages of a couple that we might not have been able to afford previously. Lots of envious eyes will be cast at Oxford, Portsmouth, Doncaster and Blackpool Iām sure but until we find our own gem to sell for a couple of million quid, we will have no chance in competing with some of the signings that they are making. Ellis was 3 instalments. Wasn't it ?

Would take him in a heartbeat if only we could afford that! What's the betting he turns up in an opposition shirt and stuffs all that stupid abuse he got right down our throats...

We spent that on Nichols and over half that on Payne last season. Doubt they would sell him to us though anyway and his would be the stumbling block, for most league 1 clubs. Unless he takes a major pay cut.

How much of it? All of it. So thereās no money thatās come in.ā For reference the fee was believed to be around Ā£450k So begs the question what we are going to do with this money, put it towards Scales and maybe another to bolster the squad or use it to reduce debts?

What a wasted transfer Payne was, especially as Shrewsbury got him back 6 months later.

I wouldnāt say it was stupid...well any involving his home address obviously was. But while he was within his rights to do what he did was it a classy move on his and new employerās part? It all came down to the leaking of his release fee which obviously raised a few eyebrows when the news reached BS3. We can all make our own minds up as to how the news reached BS3. So yeah, hard to lose any sleep over him being called some horrible names. I agree though, as a proven scorer at this level you can see a club like Sunderland giving City a profit for him and he will come back to the mem and score a hat trick. Nailed on.
