He’s got a buyout clause in his contract? Very worrying if true, especially as knowing us it will probably be for much less than he’s actually worth.

"Clarke-Harris is understood to have a buy-out in his contract" and "could be forced to cash-in on Clarke-Harris for the right offer due to tight finances at the club."
£300k it is then.

Before we have a classic Gaschat meltdown, should we wait and see if A: there is a buy-out clause & B: if there is, actually wait and see what it is?
I know, a lot haven't got the patience to wait, but try it!!!

I can't see him having a buyout clause, it's not as if he was hot property when we signed him. I can understand clubs looking at him now but we weren't fighting off other clubs when we signed him. Every player has his price, maybe do like Swansea and say we want 2m before even considering an approach.

You couldn't find anything on a serious football site, then? To be fair, Pete O'Rourke is usually a reliable source.

I think the finances bit is rubbish. In fairness to Wael & co they are covering losses and we are not desperate for money to balance the books. If he was towards the end of his contract we would let him go as we have with others, but I think he has long enough left for us to hang on to him. Of course the end of last season may have been as good as it will get and we might regret not cashing in now ......

His form was middling to poor, prior to his move to us & he stopped banging them in after his honeymoon period. Don’t get me wrong, his goals saved our league one status but he stopped being prolific once we started to play ultra defensively and, I believe, needs to be in an attack minded set up and given the ball more often. I will be sad when he goes but I’ve been preparing for this news since end of last season. It stinks, all over again, that there is a buy out clause & that it would seem to be a known amount. Something is very wrong when agents are able to disclose the amount but deny it.

Ring his agent then and ask him. That seems to be what Johnson did.

I think his playing style depends upon being given the ball and not having to track back. I am hoping we see a more attack minded approach as the home games of last season were very difficult to watch.
