I think the finances bit is rubbish. In fairness to Wael & co they are covering losses and we are not desperate for money to balance the books. If he was towards the end of his contract we would let him go as we have with others, but I think he has long enough left for us to hang on to him. Of course the end of last season may have been as good as it will get and we might regret not cashing in now ...... I think you make some good points there. I think his playing style depends upon being given the ball and not having to track back. I am hoping we see a more attack minded approach as the home games of last season were very difficult to watch.
The away games were a lot more defensive than at home ,
At least 8 players behind the ball at all times and rarely tried to cross the half way line.
And with the same midfield as last season I can see next season being exactly the same.
Just got my Blackpool tickets.

He’s got a buyout clause in his contract? Very worrying if true, especially as knowing us it will probably be for much less than he’s actually worth. At the end of last season Tom Lockyer told me that the buyout clause was only relevant if Rovers were relegated. Since Rovers had avoided relegation the club could ask for any valuation they wanted - I joked that would be 5 million then, he responded with a smile and said no it would be 10 million.

You couldn't find anything on a serious football site, then? To be fair, Pete O'Rourke is usually a reliable source. Was just gonna write the same.

And as we know from previous experience, buy out clauses are confidential between the player and club.

I still don’t understand why clubs go after players who didn’t do very much before having half a good season. Maybe it’s because they know they can get our players on the cheap so they dont have much to loose?
Similar to how after Harrison had one good season he was straight off. Again it could have been partly due to the fact that he was probably the only in form league one striker at the time that could have been signed for less than 1m

You couldn't find anything on a serious football site, then? I’m afraid it’s worse than Taylor’s. £200k buy out clause. Was told this from a ex-player that left over the summer...

I swear there was a specific mention of release clause not being in his contract a few months back...

Why? Go out for a walk on this lovely day. Be nice to your family. Help an old lady across the road. Or, you could post crap on here, if that makes you feel better. Very sad.

I swear there was a specific mention of release clause not being in his contract a few months back... I agree, I am sure the club said sometime ago that there is no release clause . I expect it has been spread about by someone who has something to gain from his sell. Another point that has been missed is that the championship transfer deadline is the 8th August so with JCH still recovering from injury it is unlikely clubs will get to see much of him before the deadline.

I may be wrong (it has been known!) but I can't see anyone from the Championship taking a chance on JCH unless there is a buyout clause of £250k or so.
He has been utterly brilliant for us, but unless he continues it into next season then January-May was merely a hot streak of form. If he does well again, we may well pick up £750k-£1m in January.
The trouble is, we struggle for goals all season under either scenario.
