Straight swap ... JCH for Charlie Wyke of Sunderland ..., Any takers for that deal ? Not me.

Pete O’Rourke is about as reliable as it gets when it comes to Football League transfer gossip, so I believe the story. Doubt there’s a release clause in there though. I’d probably take £1.5m+ for him - as long as GC was given £4/500k to spend on a replacement. With repsect, I'd want every single penny to be given to GC to sign a replacement(s)! Me too, but I’d understand £1m going towards our debts in our current financial situation.

If Luton can get £4m for a player i'm sure we can get at least half that

Wouldn’t take any less than £1.5 million in today’s inflated market.
Although saying that, this is Rovers and he’ll probably go for 150k paid in instalments over 10 years!

I fear we have given into to player power and agreed to a stupidly low release clause. If we receive anything less than £2m for a player with 2 years on his contract left on the form he’s been in it will be criminal. Bearing in mind the deal for Ellis was £750k JCH is much more of a rounded forward to his armoury. Sadly, history dictates that we vastly undersell our prize players since the era of release clauses.

How much would Peterborough get for him if he was there player 3 million ? And we will sell him for less than a million no doubt.

Tbh we were never likely to keep JCH for very long. We have never managed to keep any of our best players in the past. When he goes, we will be served up the same ****, an undisclosed sum, which means BRFC have given him away for **** all. If he goes early doors, and with no GC “marquee signing” it’s likely we will be bottom six rather than top six “again” next season.

I think the fact we signed him at the last moment of the transfer window we probably weren’t holding all the cards in terms of dictating a deal. Who knows if there is even a clause. We wouldn’t receive anywhere near 2 million for him unless he managed another season like the last one.

IMO the team is weaker now than the team that finished last season. JCH was struggling with a niggling injury and we managed I believe just 2 wins out of the last 10 when he was carrying it. We limped over the line and managed to stay up - unless we get the players in that we all know we need we're going to struggle. After what I believed was a good start in the transfer market I cant say I'm too impressed with it right now - with the focus seemingly on defence only.

JCH is on a long-term contract though, so at least we do hold all the cards in that respect for once.

Cant see JCH repeating his form or even getting close to it tbh. Would happily take 750K for him.

We need creativity in midfield and we to push the boat out an a striker. Regardless of him scoring a few goals against non league opponents, Nichols has done so little over past 2 years in league 1 and should still be looking to offload. Even if JCH isn't going anywhere don't see where the goals will come from. JCH might score 20 but the rest of the side need to be able to put the ball in the net as well. Current squad may prove to be strong at the back, there plenty of options but we need the players at the other end otherwise we face a season similar to the last one.

JCH will join Rotherham for £200k tomorrow. Which tomorrow? Wael's tomorrow? ITK's tomorrow? Rumour mill tomorrow? Or just some tomorrow, maybe?
