Two more out?! Blimey. Some of the development squad are really gonna have to step up to the plate this year... Is that a surprise given the amount of use they’ve had in pre-season? That’s why I think it’s wrong to discount the friendly performances on the basis of playing the yoof as it’s pretty obvious that the emphasis is on cost cutting and trying to Milk the dev squad for all it’s worth. Well, I guess I assumed the dev. squad players were being used so much because the number of injuries to senior first teamers had leaft us with a depleted squad. From what I’ve seen, only Tomlinson is anywhere close to being ready to make an impact in the first team (other than Kilgour, if we’re still counting him).

Which makes you wonder why we've retained Widdington & Hargreaves (apart from the obvious!) as they should really now be up to 1st team football, if they are ever going to make it. Not sure what's happened to Russe after the Irish trip did we leave him behind or was he injured over there?

The article from the official site seems to suggest he'll be back at the end of the season and that we'll be in the same position going into the 2020/21 season. How long a contract did we give this guy?! No idea but as he was signed in the January I suspect it was 2 and a half years so he’ll be out of contract after this season. Doubt if he’ll come back here. Shame that he was never given a proper chance. UTG!

WHy's it a shame he clearly wasn't good enough if both manager's haven't given him a chance and he also hardly got a look in at Lincoln.

I was excited when we signed him as it sounded like he had potential and his attitude cannot be faulted but he is going to be 25 before the end of 2019 so if he was going to make it in L1/L2 then you would think he would be there by now rather than going on loan to a very average Conference side.
Best of luck to him, just probably not the standard we require. An opinion also shared by our last 2 managers.

Readiness doesn’t come into it in a cost cutting exercise. What we are seeing is Wael’s policy of spending money like he had a magic money tree on every whim of DC’s coming back to bite us in the ass. Hard times ahead and as we don’t have any way of increasing revenue streams at the moment it’s likely to remain this way for a while.

Why don't you just wait until the transfer window is closed until forecasting hard times ahead, two or three more decent signings and our squad should at least equal anything DC's came up with in Div 1, although I'm guessing you'll be devastated if we do.

Does Victor Wotsischops count as a decent signing Topper? Or can we now both agree that we don't have a pot to water in and have fallen on hard times?

Have we fallen on hard times or have we just never really had those times?

Have we fallen on hard times or have we just never really had those times? Well in terms of the spending under DC this is very much hard times. It’s just a shame that the spending under DC wasn’t invested wisely enough that it paid for itself once we reached league one. If we had been able to sell just one multi-million plus player like Posh do then we may not be in such difficulties, but it is what it is.

True - he had the opportunity to sign Marc Bola on a free - he could be going for around a £1m shortly.

Love DC to bits but given the financial trouble we now find ourselves in I think his legacy might be tarnished a bit by all the poor players he saddled us with.
