Thought it was very sad that GC feels that some fans are being critical of some of the new signings and general negativity surrounding the club etc etc.
Today i went along to the open day, and I must admit I haven't seen or heard much in the way of criticism by fans at the friendlies or indeed on here, not that I read most of the stuff on here.
So imagine my surprise when I was told today that the supporters club wanted to do a pitchside presentation of last seasons player of the year awards, but were refused permission to do so , presumably by either Gorringe, Starnes or both. Remember, the supporters club represent over 25% of our fan base, and it would therefore have been another big positive ahead of next weeks season opener.
I wonder if it's this sort of thing that GC was on about when he said about all pulling together. Not everyone feels the need to join or generally support the Supporters Club, but as they represent such a large part of our fan base, shouldn't the club be trying to nurture them as opposed to seemingly wishing to see them diminish?
The presentations would only have taken about 10 minutes to complete, so I fail to see how they could have interrupted the scheduling in any way. Indeed, there were several quite lengthy intervals during the proceedings when they could have been done with no disruption at all.
It seems to me that this is another own goal, and would have been so easy to avoid. I hope that one of the powers that be can comment as to why a simple positive request was ludicrously turned down?

Biggest mistake was not buying out the Banned word 1960 supporters club by the current board. I wouldn’t let you shitters anyway near the pitch after I saw Ken kissing up to the board in the Conference.
You lot are finished, Ken is 1960’s and still using a fax.

Also weird that you find it very sad that GC has to deal with negativity and then you find a small meaningless thing to criticise the club about, instilling the negativity further.

And gasincider was the yob that wouldn’t shut his mouth, who shouted down just about everyone in the room making no points that had any substance or evidence, (I still have no idea whether he was speaking for the majority or whether it was the gasincider show) was disrespectful to the chair of the AGM, the board and our owner whilst your fearless leader in Ken Masters sat there and said nothing. The supporters club does not represent 25% of the fan base. I would love to see figures that back that up. If they do, it’s no wonder they are stuck on 25% as it’s a Jurassic old boys club all with an axe to grind. And when your leader cosies up to the chairman who over the last 18 months has done nothing more than cause problems both for club staff, owners, playing management to single handily disrupt the running of the club, then it’s no wonder that Tom Gorringe, Martyn or Wael told you lot you weren’t having a slice of the action. Roady is right. Having you lot own a gnats cock of a percentage is the biggest ball ache and the one of biggest mistake our owners have made by not buying you out. |

Perhaps it’s because we were so sh** last season that we think player of the season takes the biscuit a little.
Perhaps it’s timing, and the club want to focus on the new season, and not look back on a season we’d all rather forget

Some people have a little moan about players etc., which is just a part of football. A couple of others seem to deliberately stir things with the specific aim to create negativity towards the club. The latter is far more dangerous and damaging to the football club. |

I feel he has raised an interesting point in fairness. The club since the takeover has almost made the supporters club irrelevant these days.
Whilst I'm on the fence as to whether that's a good thing or not, I'd like to know why the club has decided to go down this path and what the supporters club are doing to reinvent itself. I feel they are a long way from becoming a key part of the club and a voice for its members again.

It’s full of a couple of people full of their own self importance who feel the need to feed at the top table than actually engage with the fans and the club owners as a united force. The open day should be a joint effort between the 2 clubs both with a common interest in expanding their memberships. You have to really question why the club doesn’t want much involvement from them if they were a force for good. |

Have had a look on the supporters club website and can not find details on the player of the year awards.
Out of interest who was their player of the year, James Clarke possibly?
If so, that would have been a pointless exercise.
Or have I got the wrong end of the stick and gasincider is talking about the last home game of the season when the awards are usually presented. I can not remember if they were, usually done before kick off?

last season is gone, all of the presentations etc were completed last season. why would anyone want to rerun it? perhaps if we had a barnstorming season, but we didnt.
