NO because they’ll just bury their head in the sand. A bit unfair Harley!😉 Most AFC teams that come back are run by fans who have to keep to a strict budget and run the club well. It’s just that most fans clubs have a glass ceiling, ie. Exeter are run very well but unlikely they would ever be able to get enough finance to go into the Championship, I suspect Newport are the same. As to Bury you are half right. I think that the previous owners were the main culprits as to where they are now, financially, but the current owners look as if they didn’t do due diligence hence the unknown debts. Going into admin, taking a 10-point hit may be the best way to deal with the problem. I know I’d rather have a 10 point hit in league 1 than in league 2 for the obvious reasons. UTG! Reading this and thinking further about it, football club owners regarded as being culprits / culpable / bad for a club largely tend to be British and not foreign owners? Does this premise look realistic because Premiership clubs are the ones foreign buyers go for, plus a few Championship ones, whereas lower league teams will largely be owned by locals? Cant think of many bad foreign owners although some get vilified, eg. Blackburn, Us, Man U, etc. but circumstances change and they come back in favour. Cannot think of a more loved owner than the sadly passed away Leicester Thai owner?

Spoke to a good friend of mine also a huge Bury fan today... says...”.Dam shambles. The place is locked up. Can't see us starting the season unless a miracle happens. It's coming to something when the best case scenario is admin and a 12 point deduction. Disaster.” “The efl have a lot to answer for. Supposed to be checking these fly boy owners before they can take over.” “No friendlies arranged and six unpaid players on the books. Looking like soccer sixes for us next season.”
Not looking good...

A sad situation, I noticed that Plymouth may have put a £50,000 offer in for Telford. He was never given a proper opportunity at Rovers . He had one league start in which he scored. He always looked like he has goals in him, I would be happy if we put a £100,000 offer in for him. Even if Telford only got 10 goals for us next season that could be more than Nichol and Riley total put together, we could do worse and DC certainly did last season with the forwards he signed.

Not sure if Bury could go semi professional, sale the few players they have left in contract, hopefully they could get a bit of cash for them and then sign semi professional non league players, their new manager was at Truro, it maybe a way for them to survive even if they are certs for relegation.

You've got to be professional to compete in the Football League, I can't see any way that they won't get relegated after losing 6-7 of their best players + manager. Might not even have a team to field on the first day of the season. Sad times for them.

They need a new owner in the next four weeks then, even if they went into administration and struck a deal with the creditors there would still be no money to bring in the players they need.

Think you're getting a bit carried away about Telford has he hardly started for Bury in Div 2 last season and only managed 6 goals, I'd have him back as a free transfer as he seems to know where the net is but can't see he's worth a £50K transfer fee. As far as a manager how can a club on the verge of Admin appoint a manager? More to the point who's made enough to accept the job!!

The previous owners of Bury should be hung out to dry, where are they and surely they have to be held to account? Shambolic, careless and negligent running of that club has given them little or no hope of surviving. I've never been much of a fan of Bury although I bear them no ill will, but what's happening to them now is a disgrace and I really feel for their fans.

Shambolic, careless and negligent running of that club has given them little or no hope of surviving. I've never been much of a fan of Bury although I bear them no ill will, but what's happening to them now is a disgrace and I really feel for their fans. Yes, the previous owners appear to be the ones that spent so much and then decided to get out. I presume they knew what was about to happen. The current owner didn’t do any due diligence and so they find themselves in this mess, it would have happened whoever the owners were. I feel for the staff who will lose their jobs and who haven’t got paid and I feel for the fans. Having read their forum over the last few years I think most fans knew the mess they were in and appeared to be more aware than the EFL. As it’s an individual business I don’t know if I blame the EFL for this case. Apart from the fact that the EFLs owners fitness test obviously doesn’t work and people are allowed to own clubs when they shouldn’t be allowed I don’t know what the EFL could do. I’m not sure they can stop someone buying the club if the alternative might be liquidation. The successive owners of Bury have continued to drive the club into the position it finds itself in but will walk away leaving someone else to sort it out. The problem is of course spending at a level that the owners, any owners, can’t afford esp when it outstrips income. The sooner clubs ensure that they match their income and their expenditure the better and if they did these cases wouldn’t happen. So many clubs and owners are chasing the dream of promotion, the Championship and even the PL when in most cases it will never happen. Good luck to Bury, I suspect a miserable season awaits but even that might be better than no season at all. UTG!
