At what exactly made Jesus weep ? Another match report from SteveK that had little positives in it. Not his fault he is only saying it as it is but it’s getting to familiar.

Thanks for the write up Steve. I was really impressed with Smith yesterday. Think he could be a decent partner to JCH.
Have to disagree with your Nile Ranger shout. Would rather spend the money on a creative midfielder as I think Sercombe and Bennet aren't up to the job

I would play Leahy left midfield with Kelly behind him

I would play Leahy left midfield with Kelly behind him Pretty pointless signing an LB to replace THD then playing him as a LW because he's not good enough? Although not sure Browner would have stopped somebody 6" taller striker than him scoring at the far post, OC losing possession on the edge of our pen area cost us the second goal.

Every man and his dog could see our midfield lacked creativity last season and after the summer break for GC to have not strengthened in this area and roll out the same cavalry is a joke to be honest. We were warned about this left back from every Walsall fan in the country why couldn’t our head of recruitment see this.Perhaps in the same way everyone on here were warning Tranmere about a certain CF! But yes you’re right about lacking creativity last season and it not appearing to have been addressed. That is a big worry, more so than a FB who has played fairly well in pre season and deserves time to settle in. But the window hasn’t closed yet so perhaps this will give a bit of a reality check about our lack of a creatives midfielder. UTG!

I think he will prove to be a decent signing, but have also said he is better going forward than defending. THD is a far better all round player and I hope we can get and keep him fit asap, but Leahy is a decent back up. I think with the players we currently have available it would probably be worth considering a 3-5-2/5-3-2 type of formation.

He is not really for me either but the fact is that to be able to get someone in takes cash and we don't seem to have it! It always seems that to get "good proven players" in then they have to be injured or have something wrong with them. Pirate suggests hundreds of players but how many of those actually go on to impress in the EFL? Very few make it and therefore to have made a good signing you would have to be very lucky indeed! We got lucky with Clarke-Harris. Many have failed with Nile Ranger but who knows we could be the lucky ones who sign him and give him another chance at the right time. Those who say he isn't very good anyway would see that he has a very good scoring record. Has he though. Aged 28 and only played about 140 games, scoring 30 or so goals. Sorry, I just don't see what he would offer. Mind you, I say the same about some if our current strikers too.

In desperate need of a creative midfielder or two - but we have been for longer than I can remember.

If we were to offload Sercombe would that free up enough money to bring in the creative midfielder we need? To sign somebody like Sercombe in form?

I would play Leahy left midfield with Kelly behind him Exactly this! We're still making the same mistakes with playing sercombe too deep on left. It leaves our mid short of creativity. Play Leahy like a THD...
