I remember a certain striker of ours was in demand, scored more than the snake too. He signed a new contract not long before he went to Southampton & we got a decent fee + add ons. But then he was a class player & individual. The circumstances & the timing of the snakes departure stank. I hope he signs for Oxford & gets plenty of abuse when he comes to the Mem

If Billy Bodin ever gets to play against us he will get a fantastic reception from the Gas fans (Stu Sinclair as well). The Snake, however, probably won't. It's not only the going to the Teds that's the problem. It was the underhand way that it happened. The fact that they knew all about his buyout clause, the 'Welcome to Bristol' sign when he joined - even our own bosses made a statement about having an agreement not to buy or sell players to or from each other in the future. It's also the fact that Likkle Lee obviously only bought him to scupper our promotion plans because let's face it, the Snake has hardly made any appearances so what was the point of buying him? I wouldn't have him back on loan either. He obviously has no concept of what the Gas means to it's fans. He could have walked into several other clubs and played first team football every week but he chose to go to a team with a comfortable subs bench. Muppet! I totally understand why some feel real hostility, but putting aside they got him from us, the buyout clause was public knowledge, he was a top League 1 striker and they were in the mire so well worth a punt, and he made 15 appearences (just checked) in that half season so pretty well used bearing in mind he has had injury problems throughout his time there which will have reduced his game time but 66 times on the pitch in 3 seasons when fit so not exactly bought out of spite i'd say. As for an agreement not to sign each others players, nobody knew of that before did they. That welcome to Bristol crap, not his decision was it. Just like when all those ex sh** go to Cardiff and do the head tapping it bends them out of shape too . I am sorry, but that is absolutely no excuse. I simply refuse to believe that he could not have looked up and said 'You know what, I am not actually happy about you guys posting that picture. I have just left that club and they gave me my break in the football league and the fans were absolutely brilliant with me from day 1 and for those reasons I would prefer it if you did not use my signing here as a chance to goad the club I have just left and owe so much to'. But he didn't, he stood there and grinned. He is a little rat and I hope he is kicked off the pitch (with a little luck landing in the Blackthorn).

I'm not convinced he'd still be that good, not had a lot of match experience last season, probably well rusty.

Just like when all those ex sh** go to Cardiff and do the head tapping it bends them out of shape too . The thing is who made the buyout clause public knowledge? We had a striker worth £2M+ so it was never in our interests for the club to release the amount of the buyout. That leaves Taylor himself or his agent. There was the real possibility of us making the play offs and the Sh*t going down. He could have signed in the summer for any championship club to earn 3 or 4 times what we were paying him but he decided on the last day of the window to sign for them and then rub it in our faces.

The entire notion of the ‘would you have him back’ is an odd one. You can reminisce all you wish about the amount of goals he scored in X amount of appearances, the kind of play he was involved in and the idea he would DEFINITELY improve our forward line. Yet some easily forget we won’t actually be acquiring the Matt Taylor of 2014-2018. He’s largely been benched, with less than 10 league goals and no decent run of games for the last 18 months. A large part of his goal scoring exploits for us were due to the special team around him. Mansell, Lines, Billy Bodin, Harrison/Gaffney up alongside and all those other little partnerships amongst the team which made it what it was. Having him back won’t solve any of the current teams problems, now if you said Mr Bodin was in for a return. You might just be unlocking the door!
That Oxford home game will sure be something.

Will this be the most hatred for a returning player since JJOT or Mark Wright? Or maybe that will be Payne a few days before! It shouldn’t be but I suspect JJOTs welcome will look positively warm compared to what he’ll get! UTG!

Also, didn't we all hate him the entire time he was here? Still, I agree with all the posts here. He did great things for us, then ruined his reputation by signing for the sh**. I thought he was like our Peter Crouch. Crap footballer but kept managing to bang in goals. Thanks for all of them, but he's still a lady garden. WYHHB... Where do we start? And once the negatives come in, when do we stop?

Is he actually signing for Oxford? Listened to Radio Bristol Sport tonight and the suggestion was he was given the weekend off due to the last minute collapse of his move. Made to sound like he just decided to visit Oxford as his family is there. He could have came up the Mem and did the half time draw. That would have been a surprise for everyone.

Oh no, silly me- the useless twat hit the post from 10 yards when it was harder to miss! 29 years old and he has wasted his career by agreeing to be a pawn in Landowns little game. You would have thought he could have afforded a better haircut with his increased wages though. Looks more like 39 than 29.
