Embarrassing from a few tonight, I know some will accuse me of being a member of the “pc brigade” but if the fact that it is just plain wrong doesn’t deter you then maybe the fact that sanctions for this can be as tough as those for racist chanting (which is no worse) should put you off?

Brighton had taken the lead, the knuckle dragging locals dashed to the ‘go to’ Brighton chant in order to cause most offence. Thankfully it didn’t last long.

Embarrassing, especially as Bristol itself has a large LGBT+ community.
This kind of thing should be stamped out of football, it is every bit as bad as racist abuse in my mind.

Its pretty cringe worthy these days.
Its like a few years ago whenever we played a Welsh team the majority of the songs were either anti Welsh or pro English when half of our team and management were Welsh!

This is probably nothing new to the Brighton fans, water off a ducks back to them. As other people have said just stupidity more than anything else from some of our fans.

These two chants plus the GC daughter trolls we do have some munters in our fan base very sad to say.

Hugely disappointing, if predictable. It shows we still have more to do as a club and as a society.
Maybe we should see it as an opportunity for the club to do even more to promote inclusion.

Blimey 10 years ago nothing like this would have appeared on here. The problem with the LGBT groups is that they are unable to laugh at themselves. Even to a chant of "we can see you holding hands" which got a laugh at the South stand. Their LGBT mates must have stayed at home

I live there, all my friends do also and most are B&H season ticket holders, no one will give a toss or feel even a little offended...it’s a bit like chanting everyone who supports Sheffield United works in a steel mill.

I have a Muslim mate and he laughs at headlines that say " Christmas cancelled at Junior school so not to offend". He says who is offended, we're not, we eat turkey and Christmas too. It's often people who "think" people will be offended that are the problem

Anyone remember when Clive Walker who was at Chelsea got his knob out on the tube and got sacked?. He later went to Brighton and at Twerton Brighton turned up in bright pink shirts and in dark blue emblazoned on their shirts was NOBO (who used to make whiteboards). Plenty of chants for him to get his Knob out for the girls that day.

I think there is a fine line between what is acceptable or not in various different things and what is offensive or not
I thought the holding hands chant was a little bit funny and light hearted, the bumming one not so much
much like giving Taylor stick was ok up to a point, but 'death' chants (especially giving the situation of the day) were completely unacceptable
As a society as a whole we have to be more aware of offensiveness, but at the same time stop being over sensitive to everything

Their LGBT mates must have stayed at home I don’t like it when people go out their way to be offended on others behalf either and I agree that 10 years ago nobody would’ve batted an eyelid, but that doesn’t mean it’s okay now. Times change and what is deemed acceptable has changed a lot in recent years, whether you agree or not you can’t just break modern day rules that could result in a punishment for your club because you’ve got backwards views. If the club were to get fined, would it really have been worth those few seconds of entertainment for the select few who were singing it?
