This is a bit Confucian for me. If we can only go up when we're good enough we don't have to worry about "fluking it". On the other hand, it's not like passing a driving test, reaching some defined standard. Two teams have to go up, whatever standard they are at. Some seasons will require a lower standard than others, depending on the opposition. If we're waiting until we think we're ready, let's hope we don't pick the same year as two other teams. I'll take promotion as quickly as possible and fight the next year's battles when we get to them. Ok, to use a Premier League analogy,do you want to be QPR/West Brom or Swansea/Southampton? I take your point, Hugo. I just want us to get back into the FL asap. As I'm sure we all do.

I have no doubt that if we are up there in Jan, the board will throw everything they have at it. Next year without parachute payments things get harder. I know they are pushing for a signing at the moment. We will just have to wait and see. It seems logical that promotion gets more difficult as parachute payments cease, but then again we are always being told that hardly any team has come straight back. It takes a few years. So maybe the money isn't so critical. Possibly because clubs are in such a mess when they go down and rebuilding takes time.

It was gasincider on the new chairman post who hinted at Balanta connection to mccrory. Still intrigued

It is a shame that Balanta is taking so long, but if he had been firing on all cylinders back in September, he probably wouldn't have come to Bristol Rovers. With luck, he'll be playing in November and making a difference. I don't expect Ronaldo in disguise, but he could be very handy at this level.
Gripes about him on here seem to be that he is paid a lot and that he is part of an alien conspiracy to destroy the club. I have no idea how much he is earning; do any of us? He was out of contract so maybe not much. As for the conspiracy theories, I remember David Icke revealing exclusively that the royal family are actually cunningly disguised lizards who hail from another planet. I can't prove him wrong either, but I'll put up with anything for 20 goals.

This week Barnet (who are top by 8pts), Wrexham and Grimsby have all added league players to their squads, Rovers haven't ................. ? We are always looking or being knocked back apparently ...... as I mentioned if we wait to BEGINNING of January (30 games will have gone by) we will have slipped further back, won't we ? As someone else mentioned earlier we went down because John Ward didn't address our lack of goals, this season (considering we are a league lower) the sitaution is just as bad if not worse (Forest Green chances showed up how bad we are in front of goal). I honestly cannot understand how this is happening again - is there no money ? Do the board not trust Clarke ? But if they don't then maybe they should replace him ? But maybe they can't afford to replace him ? But what still nags away for me is the 6000 /7000 crowds and the extra revenue we get compared to other clubs. Maybe that's why the club are stalling on having a Q & A with supporters again !! Sorry if I seem very negative but I'm just presenting facts and logical arguments

I don't think his pay or who recommended him is the main issue the big concern is that he hasn't played a competitive game for 18 months, look at how the likes of Kenneth & Harrold struggled after such long lay offs. Rovers were mad to sign him on a season long contract before he had proved his fitness, not to mention ability at this level. Back to the OP it seems the Dorchester thrashing has hidden the fact we can't score in the league, if we struggle again tomorrow the pressure will be back on DC to sign a striker.

Yes, it is a risk, but whether it's mad or not remains to be seen. And it may not be costing us much. People seem desperate for us to sign any old bloke, so there you go: we've got one.
Let's see what he can do.

Let's see what he can do. We'll not a flipping lot is the answer because he's not been fit since we got him! True, but we were told that he hurt his little self in training, which is unfortunate, but stuff happens. Now we are told that he is to resume training. If he doesn't hurt himself again, just think of him as the new signing everyone craves. I have no idea how he'll perform when we do see him, but what the heck? He's here, he's Gas, he's kickin' defenders' ass...es. (That didn't quite work.)
Well, he might. Let's be positive. He might be reading us! Welcome Angelo!

Odd we rejected Turley, although stopping goals doesn't seem to the problem, but signed another unfit player, at this rate Turley will return quicker than Balatana, if he's not already back.

GasIncider(just realised the hiddden message in their user name!) suggested that Balanta was only signed because of the ex Swindon Chairman's (McCharthy?) involvement before he eventually invests in the club, I have to admit it doesn't seem like a typical DC signing, although did NH just sign him in a panic after our run of poor results? I'm fearing he's another Kenneth who'll nevver make his mark even when fit. Yes, GASINCIDER said that. But it was SEVERNCIDER who said they'd revealed why Balanta was signed and was called a Shithead for their troubles. I assume they are 2 different people. Or are they? I'm all confused. You know jolly well that GASINCIDER and SEVERNCIDER are not one and the same person as their IP addresses are not the same and as a moderator you would have access to that info.

So - what's your take on the Balanta signing?

I stand by what I said about Balanta, and I am not going to name the source. It might even have been A moderator. However, if having access to IP addresses gives people a reason to (wrongly) out people perhaps the said individual should look at themselves and consider whether they should be a moderator.
Right family, wrong individual.
However back to Balanta. Watched him in training when he was fit, and he seems to have a trick or two but don't know about pace as wasn't playing a match format when I saw him. He is NOT on big money, but if he was on £600 per week we've lost a fair few grand already for no return.
Oh and by the way, McCrory was at the Mem at least twice in the last fortnight. Of course if you want me to get somebody sacked I will name the person. Should I suggest it was Toni the Till? Now that would be a notch on my belt. Shame it wasn't him, I'd have grassed him up already.

Yes, I can see that you and Severncider have different IP addresses which was why I said I assume you are different people. There are ways around this (such as using 2 ISP accounts to set up on here - work and home for example) I would add, that I don't care how many accounts an individual holds as long as they don't break forum rules. And neither 'incider' posters have done so. The only reason I even raised the doubt about if you and severncider were the same person was because Severncider said they had revealed the Balanta stuff. I couldn't remember what was said and when I looked back none of his posts say anything but posts from gasincider did. I'm really not trying to 'out' anyone and I am happy to apologise publicly if my comment caused you offense. I trust you can see where my confusion came from and also understand why I told Severncider how confusing it can be when people post things then just delete what they wrote. As for a moderater being your source, they'd better bloody not be because they didn't tell the rest of the mod team! We like to know all the gossip too you know.

I stand by what I said about Balanta, and I am not going to name the source. And what you have said, or heavily implied, is that Balanta is only at Rovers because McCrory wanted him here and is able to make such things happen. Am I right in thinking that is your position? Given McCrory's history, are you also implying that there is no likely footballing benefit to the club, just some sort of pay-off to McCrory? I can't see how that can be, given that there was no fee involved and, as you say, the player is unlikely to be on much money. However, if DC didn't want the player (as I think you said, unless I am confusing my ciders), and McCrory is in no position to care about Rovers' results, that sort of financial malarkey would seem to be the logical inference of your statements. Perhaps I am reading too much into your cryptic posts, and if that is not your implication then do put me in my place. I'll be relieved.

Sometimes people know things/find things out, you have to make the decision of saying how you know and why, or shut the F##k up. Its my opinion you're causing people concerns with no foundations, your posts are normally along the conspiracy or "i know something you don't" route which i assume is why you like to call yourself InCider Thats Ok , but expect to be known as the forum bullshitter if you can't or won't back up your stories, that's only fair. Afterall, like you keep bleating on about -"Innocent til proven guilty" - well that goes for my football club too you know and the people who run it.
