The way I see the situation is that we can't possibly get promoted, therefore we can only at some point be relegated.... The managers job at rovers is a thankless task, play champaign footie and compete at a level which is our maximum is practically impossible to achieve indefinitely.... Cut the guy some slack, keeping rovers in league 1 won't be pretty no matter who is manager.... Why can we possibly not get promoted when Teams like burton and Yeovil manage it. And whilst I don’t want to aspire to be these clubs it proves it is possible and I think the way that Some championship clubs have bounced back so easily in the past shows that this league is here to be had. I watched Sunderland v Pompey on the tv the other week and they both looked very average

When your team is poor and the football is dire only the die hard true fans go to games. When i see a team with 3 defensive midfield players and 2 wing backs i never feel optimistic about watching exciting football. Ps i know rodman was in midfield today but it must have been painful for GC to select him. If the team can get in the top half with a play off chance the 6-7,000 fans will accept it. Agree with the first part, but your last sentence is surely wishful thinking? There is no way that our motley crew of midfielders in whatever combination are capable of getting us in the top half let alone the playoffs. Let's be honest we are a very poor side.

Today was the first time that I have wondered if GC is out of his depth technically. The performance against 10 men was appalling, the same as Wyxombe. Was shocked at the 6.5k crowd tbh as well, think the OP has credence personally...

Can we afford anyone better? HOWEVER, from what I heard today, Lee Johnson may soon be available. When he is sacked in favour of a German manager. And that comes from Sh1!heads.

Unfortunately, we don't have a huge budget, and when you roughly do the math, an increase of 2000 through the turnstiles every other Saturday makes very little contribution. Whilst I appreciate your comments I strongly disagree that 2000 people paying £20 per 2 weeks makes little difference. And like I said before it’s no coincidence that the biggest supported sides are generally in the higher league That's £40k. Per home game. Out of a loss of £3 million, plus interest. It's nothing. It's no surprise at all that the biggest supported clubs are in higher leagues. But apart from Bournemouth, they're all bringing in 40,000 plus every home game and have multi multi billion pound investment. We've just about managed a big screen tv.

In fairness to GC he is doing about as well as you would expect given the budget. We were rising on the crest of a wave just over a couple of seasons or so ago under DC. Fans were led to believe that we were going places. Then just before the start of the 17/18 season we were told that the stadium wasn't going ahead. Attendances have slowly dropped away since as fans like me can see that we happy with spendibg little and just trying to stay in this league. The cynic in me says that the fruit market is a load of bolllocks and just a way for Wael to keep the fans hopes up to keep em coming.

We’ve got an uninspiring squad of players, being managed by an uninspiring manager, who plays uninspiring football, at a club with uninspiring (and want-away) owners.
Hard to believe that attendances are plummeting.

Coughlan wants the team to play to a rigid formation and grind out results which we have at times with him in charge. But people cannot stomach that stuff for long in my view unless your top 9 in the league and even then crowds will not get too big. We finished a modest 10th in league one not so long ago but the football was attacking and exciting, thats what we want to see.

We ain't got the quality though the budget has been spunked away on some players who are not worth their wages, until we offload them I think GC S hands are tied. He promised fast attractive football, with the development players as ballboys to keep the tempo up and for game management, that's not what I have seen. We are crying out for a central creative midfield player but all our midfield are of similar ability, though thought we missed Upson today.

Based on the season so far and the general performances League 2 beckons. We have too many League 2 standard players and with Ogogo and Ollie Clarke together we were never going to dominate the game today. GC's football is dull to watch and so slow and predictable. Even playing against ten players we were leaving no one up whilst defending corners and we allowed Accrington to bring the ball out and at times sprint through our midfield. How many teams have their worst player captaining the side?

If that happens, chuffed.

Interesting thread and some interesting theories but I’m not sure there is any one thing causing the falling attendances but more likely a combination. Lack of communication and failure to provide a new stadium, together with there being a total loss of faith in ever achieving a new stadium, is a big factor. Also, the poor home form and lack of decent football is another factor. Some may defend GC by referencing his reduced playing budget but look at the performances of some of our league two rivals who spend far less. Today is an example where Accrington (perhaps the smallest club in the division) were without their two best players yet went away to Bristol Rovers and outplayed them on their own ground both in terms of ability and having a flexible style and team well organised by their manager.

Hard to believe that attendances are plummeting. It's really disappointing. We're at the best level we can realistically expect to be at and have come off the back of a brilliant survival. The football isn't the best and its undoubtedly a test of fan loyalty at the minute. Sadly its pretty clear we have a 3k group of part timers who seem to surface and jump on the bandwagon when we're having a good run.

Had we lets say appointed paul tisdale we would be playing pass and move on the deck football. Coughlan could have signed a creative midfield player but he has no need for them. He could have signed 2 wingers but they would not play.
