Sure about that? The initial price (where tickets were evidently snapped up) were as cheap as chips. Currently the third main story listed on the BBC Football website is centred on Women's football. It's been up there all day. The section on lower league headlines was centred on the lower half of the screen (your screen shot features only the very top). Yes I am sure about the price I checked last night, as I always said. Currently, the 3rd story is England is about England mens team... I dont see a single WSL story in sight... Even if it was, what are we talking about here? The women's game? WSL? I read that article (and its very interesting btw), and it doesn't even mention anything about women's football until half way through roughly, it's a blog - not an article promoting women's football, which is very different IMO. It talks about an ex-England international with how she's dealing with life after football and how she realises there is more to life than football. Quite a fitting article you chose, maybe there is more to life than getting annoyed at women's football being promoted... It's convenient that this lower league headline (that can't be proven) just doesn't happen to show up on anything. (the screen shot was the only one I found on the old football sport page) I've noticed you ignored all of my questions in my previous post - I wonder why? So, to clarify yours & GGMI's points: - You dislike female pundits commenting on the mens game, because they're women who played in the women's game
- You dislike that despite an attendance that was 3-4 times larger than ours, it had more media attention
- You fail to give any credibility 60,000 fans sold 2 months in advance of a women's game, stating "they're practically giving them away for free" - GGMI even calls them "prawn sandwich supporters"
- You dislike an Ex-England international writing a blog and it being published as apparently 3rd article on the website, because she's a woman
- You 'believe the prominence of women's football is motivated by a desire to be politically correct'
But despite all of this, you don't have a problem with the women's game? Time constraints prevented a more comprehensive response earlier but I'm happy to address the points. The analytics will be held by the BBC and will perfectly illustrate the level of promotion the women's game has received in recent years. I'd imagine they might be accessible via FOI request. In terms of the other point, I think clubs like ours could suffer from the enhanced level of coverage the women's game is receiving in an indirect sense but accept that's up for debate. RE: England/Germany game, the link clearly states the initial price was £10/£1 which is clearly a massive incentive and contributing factor to the decent sign up so far. When the media promote, interest tends to follow. I'm glad you enjoyed the read of the article which has been handed a prominent place on the list of headlines throughout the day. It's a blog eventually centred around Women's football - certainly ticking the promotional box once again regardless of how you want to dress it up. FYI - The lower league 'League by League' section of the BBC Football homepage is evidenced below. In terms of the attempts to clarify the points, they aren't actual points are they? Generally just a set of sweeping assumptions which are generally inaccurate and suggest my general point hasn't been understood. Again, happy to address further: You dislike female pundits commenting on the mens game, because they're women who played in the women's gameI'm personally all for a wider movement towards diversification of pundits, both in terms of experience, background etc. I'm not a fan of pundits recruited to tick equality boxes. You dislike that despite an attendance that was 3-4 times larger than ours, it had more media attention
Again, you've missed the point that the significant media attention led to this isolated rise in WSL attendances, not vice versa. My comments around media attention aren't in any way confined to last weekend or indeed the WC. You fail to give any credibility 60,000 fans sold 2 months in advance of a women's game, stating "they're practically giving them away for free" - GGMI even calls them "prawn sandwich supporters"60,000 is a decent effort and I hope all involved have a great evening. However it's undeniable that the £10/£1 admission is a key factor in the sales figures to date. You dislike an Ex-England international writing a blog and it being published as apparently 3rd article on the website, because she's a womanI've no problem whatsoever with the writing of the blog or by the fact it was written by a woman. Why would I? My only issue has been the disproportionate amount of coverage such articles get. You 'believe the prominence of women's football is motivated by a desire to be politically correct'Absolutely - a no brainer as far as I'm concerned. Just to be crystal clear, myself and others are calling out disproportionate amount of coverage the women's game receives and political agendas being played out. In my eyes the coverage is highly skewed, not balanced. That doesn't in any way equate to myself having a problem with women playing football. I don't disagree with your earlier point regarding equal rights and appreciate we're fortunate in this country. Good luck to the Gas Girls - I hope they have a great season and a good time is had by all.

Won 8-1 today at Longlevens 😎 It would appear we’ve joined a league that is full of teams far worse than our own going by our first couple of games. That’s all good though, great to get a good start get that winning feeling. Looks like we’ll do well this season hopefully win promotion and then face some better sides next season with a winning mentality in the side. UTGG

UTGG Yes looks like a very easy league but you have to start somewhere I suppose! I guess you cannot just start at a higher level because of who you are and the sort of players you are able to sign! Are there any cup competitions with a chance of playing teams in a much higher level? That would be a good test.

Good luck to the Gas Girls - I hope they have a great season and a good time is had by all. Apologies on the delayed reply, was away for the weekend & it was too much to respond via mobile. Fair enough on The BBC Sport, although it's not really what you said "Previously the homepage has a subsection on lower league football headlines, which tended to highlight managerial changes, transfers etc" - all I see is a quick link right at the very bottom of the page to each league.. I'd hardly say that's less coverage, but I understand the point you're trying to make. I'm personally all for a wider movement towards diversification of pundits, both in terms of experience, background etc. I'm not a fan of pundits recruited to tick equality boxes. - I'm not quite sure I understand. If you're up for what you say you are, why do you have an issue of Alex Scott? Are you ok with other female pundits to be on MOTD then? Again, you've missed the point that the significant media attention led to this isolated rise in WSL attendances, not vice versa. My comments around media attention aren't in any way confined to last weekend or indeed the WC. - Ok, perhaps so - but if that is true, what's the issue? Those 24000 fans won't come to us so we're not exactly missing out. I personally think it's a good thing I've no problem whatsoever with the writing of the blog or by the fact it was written by a woman. Why would I? My only issue has been the disproportionate amount of coverage such articles get. - I think (IMO) the issue is you're looking at women's football vs mens. Personally I look at women's football in it's own right - so that fact that one of the best ever players in England's women's football wrote a blog, I think it should get media attention. But I guess you don't?

Rovers have probably had the easiest possible start. Longlevens lost a few games last season by that kind of scoreline, and only stayed up because of a league restructure.
Due to the players that Rovers have been able to attract I do expect them to win the league, probably undefeated, but they'll have some much harder games to come.
County Cup games should also be interesting.

The first couple seasons will be quite easy as the players they’ve brought in are a much higher standard to where they are currently playing. Have to start somewhere of course and am very glad to see rovers back in the women’s game.

Last season's champions BLU beat Longlevens 9-0 last season but most of their other games were a lot closer, so let's not get carried away. Games against Bristol and West, Cheltenham Women U21s, Longwell Green and BLU Development should be more interesting - I still expect Rovers to win, but they are likely to be more competitive.

Again on the main bbc football page, there are no less than 7 headlines regarding women's football, yet NOT one for L1 or L2 or anything below! You even had 3 women all talking about it the Sheff Utd VS Liverpool match after. Sorry but it is OTT.

There's other football websites than BBC if you think there's some agenda.

Perhaps best take that element to General Sports Chat and let those who want to discuss the Rovers Women's team specifically do so here. It is two separate issues.

Perhaps for years and years female football hasn’t been on anyone consciousness. Now it is and the BBC are bound to be covering it fully. Like you it’s not for me but it will be good to see the Gas Ladies move up through the leagues in the next few years. UTG!

Following the results closely as I do with any Rovers teams. How many clubs get promoted and what league would they go to next.
