Just watched again and it looks even more of a pen. Defender just charges in. Considering nobody on here seemed that bothered with the dive that earned Stanley a point last week, that was about as blantent as it gets. Take those pink tinted spectacles off! Last week was 50/50 for me, this definitely was not a pen. All about opinions. Last week's one was emphasised by the pathetic dive from the same player not long after he'd "earned" the penalty. To me yesterday's one was a defender in completely the wrong position and there's definite contact. Had it been turned down I don't think many would have been too happy!

We’ve had a few decisions go against us this season so I think we’re owed a fortuitous decision in our favour. Great result in the end UTG! I’ve always said that these type of things tend to balance themselves out over an entire season. Just happy we won.

Wouldn't have even been discussed if not given. I would be fuming if that was given against us though!

dear oh dear that was a foul by Nichols. Has he been watching Harry Kane lately ? Yeah he ran sideways in to the defender , clever play and a pen when it works , a booking when it doesn’t. 9 out of ten times he would have been booked for that.

Really? Not saying it was a penalty, but Nichols cuts inside on his right to shoot and there is contact between two players. Either a penalty or just a collision in play He’s not cut inside to shoot. Look at the ball. TN cut across the defender’s path while the ball rolled away. Yeah he ran away from the ball and in to the defender. Glad he did though, massive three points

Confidence is up there, same with team spirit and fight. Plus, we're winning games. Squad looks settled, they all look happy and hungry for it. For once in quite some time, I'm beginning to think we might, just might, have a decent Season, and who knows?

A big ask given our inconsistency but two wins for our next two games would open up a proper gap between us and the bottom 3. We could even start to dream! We will probably lose on Tuesday though!

Absolutely. Anything less than victory Tuesday and it’ll definitely be a huge opportunity missed to really push on in this decent start to the campaign. But I’m looking at a 2-0 win. JCH & Ollie C with the goals.

Gillingham have been scoring plenty , we’ll have to defend better than we did last home game or we’ll need 3 to get anything again. Confident we will though and Accy was a defensive blip.

If there's one thing we didn't do well under DC it was the streetwise aka dark arts thing that most teams excel at against us and as league 1 refs in general are oblivious to it gives then a big advantage. If JCH, TN et al are practicing that then well done GC as, sadly, you get no credit for being honest or genuine. If you can't beat them join them and the penalty today was not too dissimilar to the one last week. This could be the difference between bottom third and top half of the table. This, This, This, and this again!!
Every home game I say it, and as much as I don't like the direction football is going, it has to be a case of: 'if you can't beat them, join them'. Opposing teams (and refs) have taken the P*ss out of us for years at home for playing the game properly and not playing the ref - there are no points awarded for it. Someone else has jut commented on here about pundits using this ridiculous statement about "the right to go down". Surely it has to be judged on whether it was a foul or not, not simply if the attacker goes down, that just encourages diving?
On Saturday that defender was clumsy to a Sunday league standard - and if last week's penalty against us was a def pen then so was this one, there is absolutely no difference.

Well dived in to the defender to make contact , so it was a dive , plenty of forwards get booked for diving. Watch it again it’s a blatant dive.

He positioned himself in a way that meant the defender couldn't get to the ball without going through him (or the long way round). And the defender went through him. If the defender hadn't touched him, TN would have been in possession of the ball in the box. It's no different, to me, than a defender protecting the ball as it runs out for a goal kick. If the attacker goes the long way round, the defender can get the ball in space, if he goes through him, the defender goes down and gets a free kick. Happens ten times a game. Never ever seen anyone booked for it.

Ok, but still never seen anyone booked for anything like that, and TN owned the ball at the time, so was just clever play in my view. Had it happened anywhere else on the pitch, the ref would have given a free kick and no one would have mentioned it ever again, imv.
