DC was 1 game from the sack with us during the conference season but once he got everyone playing his way and with his philosophy we couldn’t stop scoring or winning. It took 10 games for it to click and then we looked unstoppable. Same in L2, we only got promotion because of an unstoppable run in and Accrington gifting us third place. There’s a good thread on here which says we have had our best start in years under GC (it doesn’t feel like it) so that tells it’s own story. He has signed you a team of grafters. That isn’t to be underestimated in L2 where grit, determination and passion will out rank skill and flare. DC wasn’t the greatest manager for me, that was Gerry Francis, but he was our next best. We often puzzled at his formations, out ranked the starting line ups and tactics and often used to see subs at 30 mins to change it all round. But he was always honest about it and took the blame if it went wrong. You need to give him until Jan at least IMO. Really? See, I would say that Accrington weren’t good enough over 46 games to finish above us. If you are judging the season on the last game tho, I would argue that the skill & flare of Billy Bodin definitely out ranked all the determination & passion that might have been on show elsewhere. Or you could say Stevenage stuck to their task and played to the very last whistle of the season, like true professionals. Much like they did against ourselves 10 days earlier, where they defended brilliantly & didn’t roll over for a single second.

The signs of his decline were there the season before he was sacked, the problem is that people view him with an emotional tie for all he did here (there’s nothing wrong with that)
Football is full of people who had decent success and then disappeared into the abyss to not be seen again (Dave Penney,Steve Tilson) DC is in danger of becoming another one unless he sorts it out sharp!
He of course could turn it around but as I said previously 7 wins since February 2018 in league football is awful how ever you dress it up.

We all know how passionate he is and how he believes in himself. I bet he hasn't slept for weeks.

Yep and it appears he doesn’t have the answer to turn it around, its ok blaming budget and training ground etc but I believe Walsall have pretty good facilities so that’s another excuse off the list....I really hope he succeeds I do fear for him though

Technically they were the better team over a season I would say. They also had good skilful players like Josh Windass and it was very much in their hands with 3 games to go. We needed them to slip up, just like Barney needed us to slip up the year before.

And let's not forget we had great players of our own. Matty Taylor, Billy Bodin etc. Bodin was on fire at the end of that season.

Poor start or not he’s not had a good run in for the past year at least. With both us and now Walsall. Can only see it ending one way from what I’ve heard from the Walsall fans. Stat I’ve seen is that Ryan broom who he released has score more goals than the entire Walsall squad this season.

Just a typical insidious put down the former manager post.

I still firmly letting broomy go was a mistake. He’s lit the place on fire at Cheltenham and will most likely move on in jan for a fee

Especially at the start of that conference season. Give the bloke a chance.

I’m only going off what people are saying up there. People seem to forget that he’s had a bad run of form since February 2018. Personally don’t see him turning it around but I’m all for being proved wrong

It’s mid-September. I’d hope any new manager would get at least until the New Year.

Looking at the moment a bit like a mirror image of Ray Graydon and his Walsall/Rovers days. Hope DC can turn it around but he doesn't have the fans on his side at this club - some are taking the water already with his cliches - could be make or break for him as a football manager over the next few months.(or even weeks).
