It has to be turned into a positive in my view. We all know that it's unsustainable to rely on one man so much, so this is a good chance to show how good we *really* are and whether we are in a false position simply due to the JCH effect. He won't be with us much longer the way he is carrying on so the next 5 weeks will be a chance to show that life goes on if he leaves in January. I quite agree.... Although its a massive loss we can't put all our eggs in one basket.... Good opportunity for some others, let's hope they take it.....

The question needs to be asked. Why the hell was he training when we were told he was in the office negotiating a new contract? 'Sign here or we break your legs!'

Gutted of course, and it is typical for us to lose our star player in a no-games gap! We really need to prove ourselves now, a few teams still have a game or 2 in hand also, so combined with the JCH factor missing the next month is going to be very telling

Someone else has said this and I agree.
JCH always looks as though he's carrying some niggling injury. He always seems to have a slight limp and I guess he's just prone to suffering muscle problems.
Just imagine if he was as robust as he first appears. Sadly not I'm afraid.

Another positive is we can have all the words to the new JCH songs nailed down for when he's back

Disappointing but Nichols and Smith have been scoring and Victor got his first at Wimbledon. Also Reilly has 4 goals and an assist for in form Cheltenham so we could always recall him if things got desperate!

I quite fancy us to pick up results while he's out. We've got MK, Rochdale, Bolton in that time. Plus Portsmouth are struggling...
Like others have said nows the time to see others step up and make a difference

This time next month we’ll be arguing that JCH shouldn’t go straight back into the squad after Tommy Nichols and Big Vic have scored 10 goals between them!

(Posted last night on the Today’s Results thread)
Poor quality match from one of the better teams, Blackpool and an improving team, Bolton. When you see that you start to think that although we aren’t a very creative side we don’t look any worse than Blackpool did tonight and this division is short on top quality teams. Whilst I think we’re higher in the league compared to where we will finish after watching that I looked at it and thought perhaps we could do better than I thought. Play to our strengths, be underestimated by our opponents, keep JCH, avoid injuries and with the defence looking good and who knows what might happen. UTG!
Just when it was looking good. Next time I’ll keep quiet!! 😭 Seriously if he is injured then we’ll learn a lot about the rest of our strikers and perhaps see something of Deon Moore. In circumstances like this it will be make or break for some of our strikers. Got to be positive, doubt if our systems will change so up to the others now. And I suppose a silver lining will be that other clubs might not take a risk on an injured player. Time will tell. UTG!

That's always been the case since the new loan system was put in place. Back to JCH, why do contract talks now have to be put on hold as he's out injured for 5 weeks? It's annoying he's strained his calf in training when he was clearly struggling with it in the Rotherham game, assuming it's the same one.

No idea why the EP reporter would think talks should go on hold. I’d have thought this would be the perfect time to complete negotiations. The report suggests a significant strain rather than a tear so not sure why it should be 5 weeks out - I wouldn’t want to rush him back if not 100% but hopefully he’ll be back a bit earlier than predicted.

Nichols, Smith, Adebajayo, Moore all have a good chance to prove themselves vital and should be in the side when no doubt JCH (rightly) walks back into the side.
I would like to see more of Moore, at home this Saturday probably good time to get him on the pitch. I would also start with Smith.

Its probably because we will shortly have new owners, rather than the fact he is injured

If he's out for five games that equates to around two/three goals we're going to be missing - makes no difference in two 3-1 wins. 😉

Thought he looked like he was struggling towards the end of the games in the last two home matches we played. Was hoping it was just catching up with the late start to the season and getting full fitness back.
