Not only do we now probably have to play Bolton with a full first team instead of the teenagers that some league 1 clubs have scored 5 or more against but now they have the damm cheek to call off games due to international call ups talk about taking the water they should be in the same place as bury dead and buried

So you’re complaining that Bolton will field a first XI of the best professionals they they have available against us?
What a disgrace! Heads should roll at the football league. #justice4roverz

They shouldn’t be allowed to sign players till they’d paid their football debts. They’ve distorted the league. Calling off Doncaster game was a disgrace. Now they’re media darlings. Hope they go down and keep going the same way.

Just wait until they get promoted next season and the pundits cream themselves over their incredible achievement.

I don't know and can't be bothered to look it up, but perhaps the game was called off for call ups to Burton players. No doubt someone on here could name the players involved? I just checked anyway and lo and behold Burton have three players in the Northern Ireland squad!

Bolton have 34 games left to go this season, and I reckon they need another 60 points to stay up. That's going to be a big ask for any team in this division.
They won't be our problem next season.

As Dave says - it is Burton that have the call ups not Bolton. I wouldn't look to defend Bolton at all though as their actions over last season and this are an utter disgrace. I hope they still get a further points deduction for their unilateral cancellation of games.

If they go down this season I’d rather they started life in league 2 with a points handicap - even then they will have got off lightly. The EFL has completely mishandled this from the start and should hang their heads in shame.

Imagine they stay up by a few points that they should have had deducted for the 2 cancelled games.
...then imagine their safety was at our expense.....scenes!

Agree. That’s why I would defer a decision until the end of the season. If they stay up then apply a deduction. If they are already going down then applying a deduction this season would be pointless and effectively a freebie for them. its a mess and whatever happens someone will get relegated and look back at a rival playing a kids team for an easy 3 points when they themselves played Bolton at full strength. Not a level playing field and the controversy is far from over

I think Eric's post covers this eventuality. In fact I'd go one step further and deduct the number of points needed to relegate them, and make them carry the rest of the deficit over to the next season. The EFL have to draw a line in the sand and spell out that clubs must run themselves properly.

As they were relegated they started the next season with the points deduction.

When I wrote to the EFL my reply said an Independent Tribunal was still looking at the Brentford cancellation and they would decide upon the punishment. As to the Doncaster postponement they said no decision had been made but there would be “future discussions.” I hope Bolton do get a fair punishment which should lead to their relegation. The EFL won’t, imo, leave it until the end of the season. If they did they would leave themselves open to all sorts of stuff and possible legal challenges and they’ve had enough bad publicity. I reckon they will, probably by Christmas, decide on the punishment and then serve it. But this is the EFL we’re talking about.

They’re 19 points adrift so I can’t see them staying up anyway.

I reckon they will, probably by Christmas, decide on the punishment and then serve it. But this is the EFL we’re talking about. Trouble is the EFL sanctioned the Brentford postponement by a statement they said at the time. " If the Bolton players were still striking, they could use their youth players. However as the youth team played on the Thursday night, they could not be expected to play for the first team two days later." By this action the EFL had given Bolton the option of calling the game off. Found this out by looking back and doing some digging. Because of this can't see the independent tribunal ruling against Bolton. This however would appear to have set a precedent for the game against Doncaster called off this season.

That's only assuming the Donny game was called off in similar circumstance i.e. the youth players played in another game just 2 days before, which I doubt they did as I doubt the youth teams was paying any fixtures.
