Do not shoot the messenger as I was sent this today by text by a media colleague in the Midlands. Whether it has gone out today or somewhere on the net I don’t know.
I guess it has miles but in parts a wee bit of creative journalism.
‘Saddlers boss Darrell Clarke is in talks with former club Bristol Rovers in an attempt to sign out of favour striker Tom Nichols on loan in January.
A lack of goals from his strikers is giving Clarke cause for concern and it has hoped Nichols, 26, could be the solution to this problem.
Having signed the striker from Peterborough in the summer of 2017, he has failed to set the world alight in just under 100 league appearances. He is a player who holds the ball up well and runs the channels, which suits Clarke’s style of play..
It is hoped a loan deal can be struck for the player who is out of contract in the summer.

Probably a good move for both parties assuming D.C. is still the Saddlers manager

Gee whizz Clarkey what are you doing? *facepalm*
If this is true it puts the tin hat on the school of thought that he really hasn’t been able to learn from how his reign went so sour and indicates we were (sadly) right to move on

If DC can take Tom Nichols on load.. and pay (most or all of) his wages.. then that is just another reason we need to be building a statue of the man outside our new stadium.....

Not saying this is made up to get maximum Gashead attention, but if you were to make something up to try to get maximum Gashead attention this would be a pretty good one.
I heard Lansdown is about to buy the Fruit market in order to build a stadium for the Bristol Flyers.

Kiaran I have to say this is complete rubbish, no way can they afford £3 or 4,000 a week in wages so it would mean us being prepared to take a loss on his wages for 5 months, more likely is a settlement and him being released. I’d also find it ever so strange after the media leaked the off the record conversation last season with themselves and DC, he mentions Nicholls in it “I don’t know if he will ever recover”..........he hasn’t recovered. Oh and I get hearsay thrown at me, how do I know his rough wage, I do. I took 2 forum members on here as guests for the first game of the season last season at Peterborough and Barry Fry was VERY open to us about Nicholls and said in a full room with microphone “lovely lad, couldn’t score in a fecking brothel” Charis May who some of you know as well was also sat next to me, no shithousing here

I’ve no idea. The guy who sent it only sent it to me as he knows I’m a gashead. He covers the Shrews and Wolves mainly. I sent him back ‘Clarke must be desperate’ Then again he could be true and TN agent is sending out feelers. His options have to be pretty limited in League football and DC would be a good starting point given (a) he has signed three ex gas players and (b) he pursued TN for long enough. I honestly don’t know
