No report today I'm afraid as due to illness I missed my first match of the season and an unusual win at Rochdale. Perhaps somebody who was there can do a report for me!!

I was there today
I missed the first goal but got the second OG
I could sum it up by saying that there were some good individual performances but was a poor team performance in terms of possession and ball retention
The only player I thought was under par was Upson, the rest had at least average performances but without quite gelling as a team to compliment the individual strengths
Was a 4-5-1 formation with Adeboyejo taking the brunt of the dogging work up top, he was shot by 70 mins and was pleased to exchange with Smith and was rewarded with a generous round of applause
Gas were definitely hanging on for last 20 but held out well with Jaakola having an outstanding game
Ollie Clark looking much more like the article from last season imo
Away crowd were noisy for the most part, Dale fans not so much
Thought Dale were actually a tidy team that wanted to play football
Gate was just under 4000
Three point smash n grab and well worth 7 hours in the motor

Went there more in hope than expectation, as we rarely win there. Started off putting crosses into their box from all directions, and it soon became apparent that Dale were very poor at the back.
Went 2-0 up and should have had a penalty when I think it was Craig was fouled in their box. Gradually our midfield started retreating into our back four, and Dale became much more confident, and no surprise when they pulled a goal back.
At half time, I thought Coughlan should have brought on another forward to take back the initiative and press Dales back line, but it was not to be. How we got away with it, I just don't know, as for Ollie, sorry but I just don't see how he is still being defended. I thought he was quite lethargic in his general play, and consistently stops our potential break outs with passes back as his first instinct.
As for Jaakola, what a signing he is. The point blank save he pulled out was just unbelievable, It was even given its own mention on TV last night.
Luckily, we held on for the win, but Coughlan got away with this one yesterday, which he probably deserved as he has somehow turned us around despite no help from above. I just hope he learns from this as I can't believe we would get away with it again, if our midfield keeps retreating so deeply.

I was relieved that GC has understood that 5-3-2 needs changing now and again and we certainly got away with a decent win yesterday.
Jaakkola is proving to be an outstanding signing and we were indebted to him yet again at times ... we desperately need JCH back to hold up the ball and give the opposition something to think about .
Still donโt think OC should start and nothing I saw yesterday changed that - L2 at best for me.
Victor ran his socks off and it needs to be remembered he is a young lad so an isolated role probably not his best option. One for the future though !
Truly hope we can get some scope in January to bring two or three in and hopefully jettison the over paid clinkers!
