Let's hope we get (relatively) big attendance's for the upcoming cup games.
Tonight sees the youth team try and reach the 3rd rd of the FA youth cup. It will be a big thing for them to play at the Mem and a chance to play some premier league kids.
The FA cup speaks for itself and we badly need the prize money and it is kid a quid.
The Leasing Trophy is important as it should give the likes of Hoole, Tomlinson, Hargreaves etc a possible chance to play in as close to the first team as possible, plus we badly need the prize money!

Will the forthcoming cup ties be a chance to ease JCH and THD back into action as well as giving a chance to one or two youngsters?

For having a camera to show the goals on BBC Score, we get £12,500 which is nice. Could do with a cup run for once, the balance sheet needs it as much as anything else.

Went along this evening and thoroughly enjoyed the game, which was played at fairly breakneck pace to a background cacophony of fireworks.
There are some technically gifted players in our youth set up but they seemed to struggle to gel as a cohesive unit. That will obviously come with age, experience and coaching. We missed the first goal, but the second was a lethal 20 yard free kick from our number 9. The pick of our side was number 7, Zane Williams? who possess really quick feet, pace and an abundance of skill and trickery. I believe he scored the first goal . An honourable mention should go to number 17, Ho also showed good strength and skill. At times the defence got themselves into difficulties by over playing the ball when a clearance to relieve the pressure was required.
Sudbury played heir part, but they were guilty of a good few cynical tackles when our lads looked likely to break away.
Their coach had plenty to say, and he said it very loudly. I should think he will need several packets of throat lozenges tomorrow.

Sounds like Kieran Phillips produced a bit of magic again for the freekick. Talented lad.

He looked pretty tasty v Swindon fromthe highlights if it was the same winger/player.

Zain Walker played on the left when I saw him in an U23 game against Southend at the end of last season even though he seemed naturally right footed. Had quick feet, skill and the ability to dribble either side.

He looked pretty tasty v Swindon fromthe highlights if it was the same winger/player. Apologies to the lad, his name is Zaine Walker and yes, he played down the left wing. It's difficult to evaluate these lads because I don't know the standard they're playng at, and obviously Sudbury, a small town in Suffolk is hardly likely to have a youth set-up like Chelsea. However he possesses some outrageous skill and pace at this level, and he has some fire as well. In one incident he was surrounded by players near the touchline. He performed a series of those flicks and reverse turns and got round about 4 men, but the ball just went out. He booted the ball away in frustration because he was away and had a clear run at goal. He got booked for that which is fair enough, but as I say, he's got some fire in him. It would appear he's perhaps 17? If we're doing ok against Swindon next week I'd be tempted to give him 20 or 30 mins, see how he fares several steps up. No doubt GC has him on his radar and he knows far better than I.

Just a word on the attendance. They only opens the East stand and the stats were fairly full. There were a lot of our youngsters there and quite a few coaches. Sudbury brought a few as well, and the crowd must have been several hundred.
We got there 10 mins late for the 1900 KO. However it was a doddle to get in because hey had a cash turnstile open. How about that! We walked up, paid our £4 and walked straight in. I wonder if that will ever catch on?
They had one of he pasty huts open and the function room was also open for alcohol if wanted.
I wonder if he Sudbury fans were blown away with our state-of-the-art stadium and facilities?
