I've got a Motability car with a wheelchair ramp. I wonder if that will be exempted (not legally mine, special needs requirements) otherwise how will I get my son to his appointments at the Children's hospital? Thinking the same as I have many hospital visits and own a diesel Beamer

Thinking the same as I have many hospital visits and own a diesel Beamer I am lucky I can generally get to and from any hospital visit by public transport; the whole shenanigan is just kicking a virtual can down the road. A knee jerk reaction to the questioning of this administration missing two previous deadlines in my opinion.

Have been told to avoid public transport due to my lowered immune system. I pick up virus and any other crap that is airborne in nature. Not good

Not good Jools; that's not great my friend It’s also why I now don’t stay inside any pub I occasionally go to. If I go to one that is not packed, I try to find a place which has a lot of space. It is what it is Phil. I just have to be careful but I do take chances or life wouldn’t be worth living. I’m reconciled to whatever happens fella. Just a bit worried by this diesel ban and will see my MP to see if Blue badge holders could be exempt as it’s not clear at all

With all these offers of servicing, I've yet to see one that I find desirable.

I think it's a good idea in principle but like every idea, implementing it in reality will be difficult.
We can't just keep on ignoring the issue of pollution. This isn't about CO2 as much as particulates and NOx. If you don't like the fact that your car is prohibited because it emits carcinogens, get a petrol or hybrid or electric car.
Bristol isn't the first city to do it and definitely won't be the last. The writing is on the wall for diesel, as it will be later for petrol.
The suggestion that electric vehicles are not really green is very misleading.
Of course power stations pollute, but they can provide power for many thousands of cars. They tend to be located in rural areas away from large populations, as opposed to massive numbers of cars chugging around city centres blowing out their crap directly into your lungs and your children's lungs.

I'm confused to why trying to improve air quality in the central area helps bristolians overall....
Since birth I've lived on (in order) the A4 portway sea mills. A370 coronation rd southville. A4 (again) Bath rd Brislington, the A4018 falcondale rd westbury.... My point being that you can't really stop people living near exhaust fumes with a clean air zone.... It just ain't gonna happen....
For what its worth I now live 'near' the B4055 station rd henbury within about half a mile of the M5 motorway....

The centre of Bristol is the lowest part of the city, about 28ft above sea level. The concentration of traffic and the topography make it harder for the pollution to disperse.

I've got a Euro 6 diesel which indepentent test prove it produces virtually zero particulates, why shoud I spend a small fortune replacing it just so I can drive into my own city centre? I'll just potter around avoiding the centre post 2021. As far as electirc cars every winter we're told the national grid is already struggling what happens if every Bristolian plugs in an electric car at 7pm in the winter, there's already suggestions smart meters will be used to stop cars being charged at high peak times. Plus if you live in a flat etc in central Bristol where are you supposed to charge the damn thing overnight anyway.
