is there any possible way the fans can have a say in the designs of next seasons kits? there could be a pol of say 3/4 different designs for each home & away kit that maybe fans could vote for? this kind of interaction between club & supporters would be very welcome! for to long now one kit outsells the other... & I guess as we've been wearing the yellow away kit rather than the hideous white one am I right in saying DC prefers us to wear yellow?
is anyone out there able to forward this on to Brian S S or mr Bradshaw? just putting it out there!

I agree. It's a good idea. One of the barriers that is put up is that what happens if there is a even split.
My idea would be a pool of 3 or 4 designs and people vote one off at a time. That way you are more likely to get people voting for the final design even though their first choice was knocked out in round 1.

Sounds good. the fans should be invloved in what sort of kit the players wear. For me, i would like so see us drop the quaters for a couple of season and revert to an all blue strip for home and all yellow for away games!

all blue shirts with white collar & white cuffs white shorts blue socks would be cool as a one season only retro 70s style edition personally I think the designers at errea are awful.. to plain & basic

Dropping the quarters would be a terrible idea.

That seems to be a bit of a contradiction. Anyway, in reply to the OP, I am led to believe, there could well be some fan interaction with the picking of the design for next season.

Am I right in thinking the light blue away kit with the navy sash was voted for? Hated that one, not sure I trust you lot

This was mentioned at The SC Meeting last night. The "GasBoard" concept is exactly for things like this, but i'll need your support. Things won't happen overnight, but i can say this: If enough supporters get together and prove that we can debate things respectfully and in an organised way we can have a greater say in a lot of things at Rovers, but it will involve supporters getting involved.
Do we have enough really up for helping, cause if we do anything is possible, but it's down to us. UTG

"I'd like to drop the quarters," says Bristol Rovers fan. If that happens, I'm crawling off to die in a hole somewhere.

Call me a hideously reactionary, dyed-in the-wool historical anachronism, but for me the only point of having a say in the kit design would be to STOP commercial interests from constantly faffing about with it. If I had my way, Newcastle would wear black and white stripes, Arsenal would wear red with white sleeves and Rovers would wear blue and white quarters until some point after the Sun implodes.
I don't mind what happens with away kit though. (But preferably quarters in some other colours.)
If we're going retro, look at the front cover of the new Official History. Geoff Bradford's shirt looks ideal to me.
Am I weird?

Why change it.

Change of kit could mean change of fortunes. We had some good successes when wearing the all blue jersey. We had 2 sucessive league cup quarter finals. We won the watney cup. We beat Manchester Utd wearing all blue jersey. There nothing in our history that says we MUST wear blue and white quaters. So lets give it a try. U may be surprised!

Why change it. If my memory serves me right, the quarters were introduced in the 1930's "to make the players look bigger" - a Gas historian could probably clarify this. In about 1962 we changed to blue and white stripes, then 1965-ish to 1970 dark blue. It changed back to quarters in the Watney Cup/promotion season and has been quarters ever since, although the Tesco bag version was debatable! I don't agree with online voting for kit designs - we tried that a few years ago and the 'teds all voted for the worst possible design - I think we did the same to them when they tried the voting idea. JTS is right though that maybe a few people could influence the design. Just not on a public space! I would prefer that we retain the quarters for whatever home kit comes up - not too bothered about the away kit personally. I sort of agree with Markash (a rare event) that the designs should not be changed every season - maybe the sponsors but not the design.

I think Wrexham's anniversary Dennis the Menace shirts are good and they should keep them. I don't mind that change somehow. (They're not my club, tee-hee.) I expect it's because it seems to me that the great majority of teams wear plain red or plain blue. Very unimaginative. Wrexham look distinctive and if I were them I'd build on that and not go back to looking like everyone else.
In the same way, I wouldn't want Rovers to give up their distinctive look, and come out in the standard Chelsea, Everton, Birmingham etc. shirts. I know there was a spell when this happened, but in the 60's everyone was off their heads. Hell, I wore Start-Rite sandals in the 60's.
