Hopefully attached are two images of two polo shirts. The blue one belongs to Newcastle United, the grey one to Notts County. Clubs at different ends of the spectrum.
I find it interesting they have both decided to sell polo shirts that don't have the official crest, but instead something that is identified with the club (Magpies). Obviously, they haven't totally ignored their official crests, these shirts just form part of a range.
Having read lots of people say they are after more subtle designs when it comes to our leisure wear I wondered exactly what people mean. Are we looking for ideas like this, or simply keeping the official logo, but making it a lot smaller?
So my question is, bearing the example images in mind, would you buy an official BRFC Polo shirt that didn't have the official crest on it?

Depends really. I wouldn't want a camp pirate on my shirt unless it was the one on our badge.

However, if it's a more frightening looking pirate (or some skull and crossbones) then depending on price/quality/style etc I'd be tempted.

Off the top of my head, as examples of what we could possibly use. (TEXT) - BRFC, RVRS, 1883, Postcode, (IMAGES) - skull/crosswords, quarters, bristol crest,

Matt, firstly good on you for getting involved.
Personally, i'm not a polo shirt fan and have voted accordingly, but then i'm old anyway!
Some good ideas coming through here which is great to see.
For around half of my time i work in Design/Marketing/Promotion with some prestigious brands and can say the secret is not finding what you like, but finding what the majority like, its a difficult process that sometimes means producing a product that does well yet you hate yourself. Also sometimes it works by finding a higher end product/design with better margin that although not a mass seller can reap larger rewards and sometimes less mean risk/outlay.
Good luck everyone involved.

Thanks Jon, "subtle" and "discreet" seem to be words that keep appearing whenever people are asked what they want. Im trying to work out exactlly what people mean when they say they are after these subtle designs. We have always sold plain polo shirts, with an official logo. We even currently sell one with a logo coloured in silver, not the usual blue black and yellow. Bearing this in mind, I can only assume 'more subtle' can only mean people want a smaller badge, or a replacement 'fashion brand' badge? looking at what other clubs do seemed an obvious step to take. Maybe fans are getting some kind of merch envy? Of course I have my own views, but getting some kind of consensus is exactly what we are trying to achieve.

For me, I would assume they mean it needs to stay completely away from the club badge. I would happily wear something that was branded with '1883' or something... If I was going to get something with a Rovers badge on it would be training kit / replica kit - don't need any other options!

NO OFFENCE MATT. IF I WANT JUST A POLO SHIRT THEN I WOULD GO TO SOMEWHERE LIKE T.K MAXX AND PAY A FIVER FOR IT. A POLO SHIRT TO BE SOLD BY ROVERS SHOULD HAVE SOMETHING DEPICTING THE CLUB. LIKE WHAT RAS HAS PUT ON HERE

LIKE WHAT RAS HAS PUT ON HERE I'm not saying we put nothing on, obviously we wouldn't have a magpie, but something we felt we could identify as BRFC. one of my suggestions was a pirate skull/cross swords, so exactly what Ras put.

I like the idea of a little square divided into the quarters.
But then I am obsessed with the quarters today, as we know.

Its got to represent the club in some way for sure. There's a fine balance between a plain shirt though and the opposite which is fully kitted goober style walking round Tesco with yer shinpads on.
The badge is a bit much for some leisure wear wise but a cool image and logo which still represents the club is a winner in anyone's book. Lettering is easy too. Nice script and 1883 or brfc. Still says club but doesn't say goober.
the skull and crossbones is classic and can look bad ass for the kids hoodies or small and pro for the adults polos.
And for wutangs bucket hat of course.
When you do finally get to produce stage be sure to share with gaschat.

Knocked this up a minute ago. I'd bite your hand off for something like this. I would literally buy this. Well, not this. As it's a picture. But if this was actually made in to a polo shirt, I'd buy one. Hell, I might even buy two (if they were available in different colours).

I'm also on the retail panel with Capt. gas. Whilst we won't get everything right first go, it's important everyone knows we are fans trying to provide other fans with merchandise that is new and something a bit different. We have only had three meetings but have come up with some ideas that we hope will be popular

How about moving the shop outside of the ground on match days so that everyone has access to buy these great suggestions.
The current policy of having to arrive mega early or waiting until after the game before you're allowed into the Upland terrace just means people like myself never go into the shop unless it's to buy tickets.
