The Labour policy of a third off the price of adult rail tickets and free rail travel for those 16 & under would be great for fans. It would help to reduce the cost of going to matches and so encourage more people to attend. Even better if Rovers had a stadium close to Temple Meads. Won’t help much when under Labour - they’ll be on strike more than operating a service.

Have you tried comparing the strike-bound private companies that run Southern and South Western Railway with the publicly-funded Transport for London, which has transformed public transport in London since its inception, and kept millions of cars off the road?

I wonder what happened to the wildly overpriced bus scheme that was mentioned earlier in the season? Did they ever end up running any?

Since the beginning of the Industrial Revolution around 1850 the amount of carbon dioxide in Earth's atmosphere has increased from about 0.03% to around 0.04%. Both of these amounts are tiny and not worth getting excited about. The one degree Centigrade increase in temperature over that time is also tiny and represents the rebound effect from the end of the Little Ice Age which ran from about the 15th century to 1850 - 1900. The temperature rise has nothing to do with carbon dioxide or mankind. Bear in mind from previous climate model predictions over the last 30 years the temperature should have risen 4 to 7 degrees centigrade by now and the Maldives totally submerged and Snow a thing of the past in the UK. It simply has not happened and Carbon Dioxide is one of Man's best friends as vegetation/crop yields greatly increase with more CO2. We should be more aware of the prospects of a cooler World which could bring about famine and riots which happened during the Little Ice Age. So in relation to Bristol Rovers, reducing electricity use is a good thing but only in respect of financial prudence and responsibility over plastics is commendable. The Hab theory, which is detailed in the book mentioned below, IS fiction but the scenario outlined I hope isn't plausible but the book is very thought provoking.. Its to do with the axis that the Earths spins on and the science of the gyroscope effect of Precession which occurs when weight is added,(caused by ice melting at the poles), to the gyroscope waist i.e not at its axis and with the rotor (earth) spinning a gyroscopic precession can occurs. The effect would be that the earth axis would turn through 90 degrees. THE HAB THEORY "This large contemporary novel tells the story of an ordinary electrical engineer who, at age 94 and dabbling in the earth sciences as an avocation, discovers an amazing and shocking truth -- that time after time since the beginnings of the earth, life on earth has been periodically been virtually destroyed and has had to start over again. Such a disaster (which occurs at intervals of 15,000 to 50,000 years apart, is currently threatening the earth. The electrical engineer, Herbert Allen Boardman (HAB) tries to alert the people but he is ignored and, in desperation and to get the ear of the world, he sets out seemingly to assassinate the President of the United States -- an assassination attempt deliberately meant to fail, but which puts into motion a remarkable series of events and investigations that virtually rock the world." NOT GOOD BEDTIME READING 🥶☠👹

LED lights everywhere possible and light sensors so that lights cannot be left on anywhere is a fairly easy thing to do. You can get LED floodlights, now. Of course, if we used sensors, the lights would go out whenever there was nothing much happening on the pitch.

Change are name from the gas to the sparkies Surely we should be called Wind Farm or maybe Solar Panels? Doesn't sound too catchy though!

On the BBC farming this morning they were saying that farms in East Midlands had flooded due to climate change, then a farmer came on and said they used to dredge the river regulary but they haven't done it for 12 years.
the "climate" is measured over a period of not less than 50 years, anything else is just weather. Also recurring incidents are "weather" so Venice floods, they say "Climate change", but it flooded just as badly some 40 odd years ago. Then there are sunspots ( every 11 years or so) and the slight wobble in the earths rotation. None of it is climate change

None of it is climate change That doesn't explain why vegetation patterns are changing more than they have for hundreds if not thousands of years, drought and flood events are more frequent and severe than ever recorded, and artic marine wildlife are under threat due to polar icecaps melting. These creatures have evolved over thousands of years to live in an environment which is now becoming hostile to them.

This thread has become sadly quite depressing with some of the responses. Shame really.

None of it is climate change I remember in the 1960's we were told that there was going to be a new "ice age"andvthat there will be a shotage of fresh crops due to lack of sunshine. I believe the earth heats and cools in natural cycles.

Ouch! Took that one personally. Obviously my username isn’t masculine enough Sorry axe I just used it as an excuse to have a pop at that little girl who is only in the eco warrior game for the money and Instagram fame. Ah come on don't be nasty the poor sole has had her dreams and childhood stolen from her. How dare we ! Go get an education and stop hugging trees.
