Came across this on the Grimsby website: www.grimsby-townfc.co.uk/news/article/mariners-to-release-official-sticker-album-2043566.aspxPersonally I think it's an exceptional idea! The World Cup seen a rise in adults buying the Panini stickers and it's always been popular with the young'uns. It would be great to have a sticker book that maybe covered this season and then 10 other memorable matches (league, cup games or even friendlies). A new book can then be released each season containing that season's squad and another 10 (different) memorable matches. The book would also contain stickers for the youth squad and all of the backroom staff. "Shinys"(sp) could be two or three of the key players in the squad as well as the manager and the home and away kits. For the 10 memorable matches, the shiny could then be players who made a key contribution - MotM, goalscorer, penalty save etc. Personally I think it would be incredibly popular and quite the money-spinner. Once released, the club could then have deals where they hand out the actual sticker book (plus 1 packet of free stickers) to those who attend a selected match etc - help get them hooked (this is what worked so well with this years World Cup sticker book - the book was free in most supermarkets; people then got interested and bought the sticker packs and were hooked in no time). The club could then even hold swap-shop days where kids (and adults) could turn-up and do "swapsies" to try and complete their books. If the club got a couple of players to turn up as well, this could only be a good thing for fan and player/club relations. I'm not sure if someone with links to the club/merchandising department could raise this as a suggestion?

Takes me back this. Thing is kids have changed these days. Once we were all happy collecting little stickers and filling up our books, now kids are only happy when they are collecting weapons and drugs. Maybe we should start handing out novelty projectiles?

This was loosely mentioned as an idea at the 1st retail meeting,it has not been forgotten and could well be considered at a later date. We are just concentrating on a few lines to start with.

You ought to write for the Daily Mail mate.

You ought to write for the Daily Mail mate. that's the most insulting thing anyone has ever said to me. And, no word of a lie, I was once called a stillborn maggot by a pensioner.

I really like this idea and would definitely buy the album and stickers myself.

The only way I wouldn't buy it would be if it's poorly designed. There was a World Cup sticker book this summer, not the Panini one, that was poorly done. The players heads were clearly photoshopped on to some stock photos and the kits, although just the top, were clearly not the actual kits. Small details like that are make or break for me.
