Just watched the highlights, why so many people clapping in the Thatchers after their first goal?! Were Southend that good in the first half?!

Difficult to say if they were good, but we were really bad. They opened us up again and again in the first half and could, and probably should have gone in 5 or 6 nil up at the break.

Tbh I genuinely thought we were playing Liverpool in the first half. Apart from their finishing anyway.
If they could finish, we couldn’t complaint at being 4-0 down tbh

Yes it was during the minutes applause for a lost Gashead. Thought at the time how embarrassing that was.

This is why we need to take every request for a Gashead minutes applause across any given season & save them for a collective ‘celebration’ of lives in the last home game. As demonstrated yesterday, Lance Cook can deliver a truly exceptional tribute speech. How the family must have felt yesterday when Southend knocked in the first and the whole ground went deadpan & stopped clapping. I also feel this happens so often now, the ‘applause’ as it were is quite half hearted. As demonstrated by the two gentleman next to me, “What’s going on now?” “Oh someone else has gone & died!” Charming.

Should be reserved for significant ex players and great servants to the club like the dunfords. Anyone else should be celebrated end of season.

Yeah, I honestly told my wife a few weeks ago, whatever you do, if I die first, don't get me a minute's applause at the Mem.

Thought the applause on 2 minutes was for the 2year old daughter of Benik Afobe who passed away last week, thought it was a nice touch and several clubs around the country joined in..

I agree with most on here, perhaps as people write in we can collate names of those who sadly passed during a season & at the last home game of the season, they can read the names out and then a minutes applause for those we lost

We won’t be at the Mem when you volley the pale old chap.

One careful owner, low mileage ? I've been told that before only to discover it's been around the clock a couple of times, leaks fluid and the big ends gone
