DC was sacked 1 year ago on Friday (13th December), before Rovers putting GC in charge of the club. Some were happy, many were unhappy. Some will remember I wasn't behind the sacking unless GC kept us up, I even created a thread to applaud GC & the club last year. gasheads.proboards.com/thread/14298/saidIn the post I said, " Whether GC is the right man next season is another matter - however despite poor performances at times, we have secured L1 football next season. GC said it wouldn't be pretty & it wasn't" Well, one year on I can firmly say I am 100% behind GC. Although I didn't feel it at half time yesterday, the results speak for themselves. Anyone still not behind GC & this squad need to have a long look at themselves in the mirror. We're 5th in L1! Honestly speaking, 1 year ago I wouldn't have even dreamt of being in the position we are now. Keep up the fantastic work GC and let's get behind him Attachment Deleted

We could start a thread on that. Just an idea.

GC certainly looks to me like the kind of dude who can deal with the transient nature of modern football very well. You really can't take many negatives from his achievements thus far, and given the time scale and the circumstances he's miles above many expectations, including my own.... So fair play to the bloke....

I think whoever replaced DC would have faced an uphill battle with a large number of Rovers fans. In reality, GC has done a fantastic job and has surpassed all expectations. At present, he saved us from relegation in his first season and now we are in the play off positions the following season. The guy is doing a superb job.

And his playing and coaching budget is probably at least half a million less (Lines, Locks, Stewy and DC's own wages)

Well, if someone had said that after 18 games we would be 9 points and four places below Wycscum then I would have been very worried!

We also have very tough games coming up, which will either cement us as a play off candidate, or a midtable candidate.
Ipswich (A) Peterborough (H) Wimbledon (H) Fleetwood (A) MK Dons (A) Doncaster (H) Rotherham (A) Fleetwood (H) Bolton (A) Coventry (H) Wycombe (A)
8/11 are against promotion challengers (Donny maybe not, but I expect theme to improve in form again). Also with a rearranged Sunderland game in there as well

Can't fault what GC has done to transform our league position and long may it continue !
My only concern so far is the STYLE of football causing our dramatic fall in attendances or just a sign of the times ?

I still haven't really warmed to GC, however, that doesn't stop me getting behind him or admitting that he has exceeded my expectations for this season so far.

Just to point out that out of the 57 league goals scored under GC's 12 months in charge, 19 of them were scored by JCH. Exactly a third of the 57 goals. JCH has only been involved in 27 of GC's 43 leagues games too.

My only concern so far is the STYLE of football causing our dramatic fall in attendances or just a sign of the times ? I think it’s a melting pot of everything. Xmas is coming, people may likely save to come to those on top of an already expensive month/time of year. Some are clearly P’d off at the owners for the stadium etc and some still don’t like GC and his style. Personally, I don’t care how we play as long as we win. This time last year we were trying to play total football, were utter dog 💩 at it and we were 23rd and out of the FACup to a non league team. Are you really saying that people prefer that to this year? Bonkers if so.

I said in another thread yesterday, if you’d said a year ago that we’d stay up and in mid December 2019 we would be in 5th position in League 1 with a game in hand we probably wouldn’t have believed it. The football hasn’t been great but we’ve had some great moments, the last few moments against Fleetwood a year ago, last 20 minutes against Pompey, the second half against Southend and I also enjoyed the MK Dons home game. Others have seen a lot more but I also saw Bolton at home! We’re inconsistent in our play but pretty consistent in the results so fair play to him. After a year, well done to GC and the team. UTG!

I know what you mean , thing is the way I see it I don’t have to really like him as a person , he’s not my mate, he’s the manager of the football club I love and he’s doing very good things for my club so I like him a lot for that. Do I find his interviews a bit boring ? Yes. Is his style of football captivating? No. But one look at the table and I really like him again.

Probably a bit of each.
