Good shout. Between him, Humphrys and Goodship I actually think Southend have a pretty decent attack. I think the injuries helped us a lot yesterday as well. I always thought getting one back would put the wobblers on a team that has been struggling all season, luckily we scored early!

Wes McDonald is getting rave reports in a struggling Walsall team. Pace to burn and able to turn defenders inside out. Getting a lot of scouting attention and OUT OF CONTRACT at the end of this month! Was interested in watching Brandon Goodship for Sarfend yesterday. I seem to remember Pirate recommending him when he was still at Weymouth. Is Pirate aware of McDonald? axegas mentioned McDonald when he left Yeovil. gaschat.co.uk/post/456971I'd look to get the lad Callum Roberts in from Blyth Spartans. Will be a football league player soon enough and hopefully that is with us.

We still need a partner with finishing ability and hold up skills to keep us in the top 6. Get this player and we have a real chance. again yesterday Nichols fluffed 2 very very good chances - 1st in the first 15 secs of the second half but he refused to shoot and eventually did so from the goal line. then again in a similar position to where Ogogo scored which he walloped over the bar. when you see him in the starting 11 - you know he won't deliver even 1 goal. I pray either he or Benno OR both can be offloaded in Jan and we can get somebody who GC can trust to get 5 - 10 goals till the season end. It's great that the midfield and defenders are chipping in, and of course JCH will keep scoring, but there's games against better opposition than Southend where we need a proper strike partner for JCH. Mark - I think you'll admit that every club in the country is looking for such players. They're like gold dust or hen's teeth. What you say is rather obvious and no one would disagree. Doing it might be a shade more difficult....

Another quick question:
How long is GC's contract?

Another quick question: How long is GC's contract? Appointed on a two and half year deal last January, so until the end of next season.

If he continues his current level of performance, GC will be looking at management positions in higher placed clubs well before his current contract ends.

I think We are punching way above our weight and long may it continue ,but ,if we do have a bad run ,which all clubs do, please Gas heads don't turn on a manager who has done an exceptional job from day 1, none of us expected to be 5th in the table in December ,so lets keep things in perspective and remember what those hopes were ,for me finishing between 8 and 16, up the Rovers!

As mentioned prior Nichols is a good footballer, but as we all know his shooting boots have long since gone missing. I also would like to see him play midfield in a Bodin type of position, things might then change for the better, and he might find the net?

But we've never really played 4-3-3 under GC, the ideal role seems to be the one Tomlinson played v Orient, just behind the front two/top of the diamond.

One other positive, being at the top half of the table may help a little with any recruitment in January.
UTG!

Perhaps Nichols can play in midfield, he is a good footballer but not a striker at this level. I thought he played well yesterday. I have said this, gotta be worth ago surly And drop who? Rodman? Sercombe? Upson? Ogogo? No thanks.

Can't be any worse? Than our best attacking midfielder? Sure. You think Rodman is better than Serc's You to change your glass's sir ! Sercombe is a great player. But more goals this season and last season from Rodman and a better goals to minutes played ratio, I think my glasses are fine. In any event I know who Rodman definitely is better than - the bloke you want him dropped to accommodate just because you can't back down from backing a nag after three seasons of nothingness.

In your opinion Bit like our friends in Govt, we backed them for 9 years, they are not the best but we are going to back them for another 5 years because they are better nags then whats on offer
