He may well have known but what would you do ? Stick around and potentially be unemployed or take the job offered at Mansfield ? Would have thought if he hasn't chosen to follow the š he would have been in with a good job of getting the manager's job, follow up beating Plymuff by beating Posh he would have probably got the job until at least the new year/more time to impress.

Regardless of Plymouth and Peterborough, he was always going to join his mate at Mansfield.
GC knew it. Rovers knew it. Mansfield knew it.
Let's hope the compensation is sufficient. Every little helps ....

Iām glad joe is going because wael would give him the job if he stayed and we need someone who has more experience and more contacts. Manse and hardgreaves isnāt my choice. We were lucky with GC turning it around and being internal and cheap option but I canāt see it happening again
Ben garner must have lots of connections and Michael Flynn seems a great prospect and wouldnāt have to move his family

Someone like Mourinho might even be more inclined to loan us one or two players after helping Garner with his UEFA Pro Licence and with Garners reputation as a good coach.

Itās not going to happen.

Is Dunne missing his family too or just missing GC?

I was not impressed with (I believe) Dunne's public outburst against The Plymouth Manager in the first match which was a bad example to set before our younger Supporters. Not the sort of gent to be our Manager. Jog on, at least he had some passion. If we even think of appointing Lee drybread mansell expect us to start plummeting Blimey, the guy has been one of the most important parts of our two promotions and gets the p*** taken. Now heās started out on his coaching career. Top, top man. Jeez, I know itās all about opinions but do we have to take the p*** out of our own staff. UTG!

Really donāt get this must be an experienced league 1 manager idea. I know MS said they were looking at that but we were also told many other things none of which happened so I donāt take much notice of that. Penny, McGhee, Buckle have all come with what would have been good experience. Megson, Trolls, DC all had no or very little experience yet have accounted for 4 of our 6 promotions. Those wanting experience may be right and it works out but whoever is appointed there will be no guarantees and both types (experienced or inexperienced) may end up failing. But letās avoid running down CH and LM who have both done very well for us so far in their different positions. UTG!

Internal appointments have given us our last few tastes of success so I certainly wouldn't be disappointed if we recruited Mansell, in fact I'd be quite excited. He's a top bloke and you can tell by his past interviews he's future management material.
Our last few successful managers...GC, DC, PT, all internal appointments. Granted it's not a fool-proof recipe but I don't understand why some would be so against it?

Bunch of mercenaries.
I can't help wondering if some of the "we love DC and we're going to watch Walsall this season" brigade will be heading up to Mansfield for their entertainment.

Quelle Suprise!
Tbh, I think it was always on the cards. And this shoes GC's sneakiness that if Mansfield were gonna take them both, but GC was obviously having these conversations on his own without even saying to Dunne...
Might make it easier to bring in a new manager though, not sure - appointments usually bring in a few of their preferred people anyways so perhaps it was a case of this happening sooner or later anyhows

What about compensation? Our management team were under contract before the mighty Mansfield stole them away.
Anyone heard anything in this respect?

But he's so professional and a gent?? Lets not kid ourselves, he took charge of the Plymouth game to soften the blow. He was always going with GC. Don't understand how GC can get so much vitriol and Dunne is the gent? Dunne was always going to follow his mate. But he didn't shoot his mouth off in the media; quite the opposite - he was very complimentary. He didn't need to, his mate had already done that! GC forced the boards hand by going public and Dunne was obviously a part of it. Frankly, I don't blame either of them and wish them all the best.
