It's irrelevant if he formally applies or not. He may not send in a CV, but he's made it perfectly clear he would be interested. So let's approach him. At the very least, we should be picking up the phone and inviting him for a chat. If he can't sell his vision as well as other candidates, or doesn't fit with the structure we have, whatever...he won't get the job. But if we don't have the conversation, we'll never know and it would be ridiculous to hide behind the "he didn't apply" excuse. I don't see it as irrelevant at all. If he wants to be considered, then apply. It strikes me that he's just being arrogant by stating "they know where I am if they want me".
I can't see him doing that and I can't really see him being appointed by Wael/Starnes after the very public and often misguided criticism that Ollie has thrown at them.
If, by some twst of fate, he does get the job, then I'd get behind him, but I wouldn't lose any sleep if he stuck to playing the media characature that currently pays his bills.
Media characture - unfortunately , that sums him up perfectly 🤣Utg

Hes certainly a character and that's why hes so popular as a pundit but hes still young enough to be a manager and has a wealth of experience and contacts in the game. Yes not every club hes managed has been a success but him and us fits perfectly for the remainder of the season. He clearly wants that phone call but needs to apply like the rest of the interested candidates but for all the posters that shoot me down for wanting Ollie back I ask you again who is the better realistic candidate out there?

I think it’s more the comedic oooo rrrrrr Bristolian bit the media love - and Holloway has made a very good living out of exploiting that persona . Utg

both Ollie and the board are too stubborn - probably for the best with hindsight but I wanted Ollie - shame they can't all grow up

Your probably right lol but it's nice to still have funny characters in the game, beats listening to Shearer/Owen

I met Ollie recently through work. I used to adore the bloke. And in my opinion in my 37 years as a gashead the best football we have ever played was under him. However after my meeting I can tell you he is an absolute Special lady garden and I want him no where near our club. We don't need him. His management skills are redundant and I'd rather Hargreaves than that man ever come near our club again.

Unfortunately I had what sounds like a similar experience a couple of years ago , although never a particular fave of mine , I always thought of him as gas through and through —— how very wrong I was .utg

I'm sorry you got that vibe off him but you don't have to like person for them to work for you. I didn't warm to GC but he gave us results and I believe Ollie would too. Warnock's not very loved in Bristol but he would do wonders ( not saying I want him ) sometimes the people who we thought we admired aren't the same people we meet and i had that feeling when meeting what was my young hero Jimmy White.

Can't believe I'm sticking up for them but the board are in a bit of a no win situation here really. Everyone keeps telling them that they need to modernise the club and then tell theme to appoint a manager that hasn't successful in the better part of a decade.
I haven't got the stats in front of me but I'm guessing that his win percentage is below 30% in the last 5 years judging by how poorly his spells at QPR and Millwall went.
Ignoring the fact that he's a Rovers icon and that he's good for a quote, what is it about Holloway that appeals to fans because I really don't get it.

I have watched Rovers for quite a long time, and for me Ollie was / and to this day is the best creative midfielder to play for Rovers, when he was manager he nearly got Rovers promoted out of the first division, he brought some super players to the club and we played on the front foot and the team was a pleasure to watch, he is also a Bristolian and gas through & through. The football under home-sick GC has been absolutely awful, that is probably why the gates have gone down by 3,000 per match since DC; Did Hargreaves get the sack from Torquay ?, IMO Ollie should be put in temporary charge until the end of the season. UTG They haven't though have they. Our last home league game under DC, we had 7356 attendance. Our last home league game under GC was 6797. (Both at same time of year) I don't think it is the football, it may have played a part but we are always competitive and I think if you are winning games, fans will come. The bigger contributing factors for me are our fans became disillusioned with our owners. We were riding on the crest of a wave when we went up from L2 to L1 with a manager that was maybe the most loved in our history, while in charge? The big turning point was the stadium falling through, I think that coupled with us stagnating were the biggest part of our decline, and then ultimately the beloved DC's decline. I think if GC had stayed, attendances were on the way up and fans were just starting to back him.

He says he’s in for another role, probably thinks if he applies for our role that will lose him the other job. Thing is I’ve no idea what that other role is, but he’s referenced it several times.
