When all is fit?
Personally I have no clue what the best formation is for the players we have. 3 at the back with wing backs means we shouldn't have wingers. But we don't have the creative players in midfield to get goals. 4 at the back allows for wingers but who are our best 2 CB's?
Im interested to see what you all think from a full squad to choose from, what formation and starting 11 should be.

This is our best team when all are fit for me at the moment. We are severely lacking in options up top so I went for JCH and Nichols as I think that’s the best combination we have currently. Didn’t include any of the new players apart from maybe Barrett, as honestly I haven’t seen enough of them.

It does make you wonder about the recruitment this window
Garner talked about pace and attacking threat and we sign 3 players that don't seem to fit or are needed!
For me we desperately need a decent right back and a striker!

Thanks for the replies. I am still none the wiser on our best formation to fit our current squad and what our starting 11 would be.
All I know is I would have Jaakkola and JCH. Without knowing our best formation, I wouldn't know our best players for the rest of the positions.
I think our defensive players suit 3 at the back with wing backs BUT our attacking players on paper with the new recruits suit wingers with an attacking midfielder behind a lone 1 striker up top. That's why im struggling here.
Good points raised about it being too soon to judge the new recruits if they make our strongest 11 or not. I think this is the first time in all my gashead life that I have no idea who to pick for our strongest starting 11. |

I'd kick off with 2 centre backs, Samson & Hercules, given a free reign that anyone not putting in a shift or any lightweight dribbling a little bit of wee, gets a slap.

GK will be interesting in the absence of Jaakola, I wonder if Garner will go with the new man on Saturday, he's his signing, bit of a risk though given the poor start we've already had under Garner's leadership.
I think if you're going to play a back four and you've got a fully fit squad then the four above are a pretty clear choice.
Midfield is difficult to call, but I hope Garner considers his signings as better than what we already have and therefore I've gone for them, if we revert to the players we already had then the formation needs tweaking.
I really hope Garner will play two out and out strikers, whether Barrett or Reilly can do that I'm not sure, we've all known for about three seasons that we need to sign a striker!

I really don't know what Garner will do for his actual team for Saturday, I adjusted our strongest team in light of injuries to the following, but there are a lot of players that are returning from injury and a lot who haven't had much game time and arent match sharp so I think he'll have to compromise it again:
