I honestly don't think JCH is going anywhere tomorrow. I think will be the summer. I don't think we will risk letting him go and failing to bring in a replacement. We would then be left with 3 strikers. Nichols and Reilly who both struggle to score goals and this new lad Timmy - who could be really good, but hasn't played a single senior game. Doesn't fill me with confidence if we let JCH go. My view is that we’ve got this deal done a day early to ensure we have some attacking options for Saturday...we’ve registered this one in time. Tomorrow JCH may leave and he may not....but if he does go and we sign a permanent replacement there is a good chance that replacement will get registered after the cut off to be eligible to play against Coventry, thus if Nichols does conclude a deal as expected we’d still have Reilly, Abraham and Phillips to select from up front. Not signing Abraham today and losing JCH, Nichols, Moore, Mensah, Odebayejo and Smith in the same window...and having Warwick out on loan would leave the cupboard decidedly bare.

Comment lifted from elsewhere made me nod with a degree of agreement but hoping not:
"No league experience fits in with the other Garner signings perfectly - pre Bolton embargo tactics, blood them and destroy them"

Not exactly what I was hoping for in this window, but good luck to the lad and I hope he can do the business for us when called upon.

Players that impress at Premier League 2 are people who I expect might go well at this level. We never seem to be able to attract that calibre of player though.

On reflection it seems that BG's comments about this signing are less than enthusiastic - words to the effect that it is something that was on the cards before he arrived. Is he getting his excuses in early if it doesn't work out?

Is he getting his excuses in early if it doesn't work out? Maybe, but you can hardly blame him if that’s the case, particularly if he hasn’t seen him play. On the face of it, his stats are very underwhelming so he would be on a hiding to nothing If he built the signing up too much.

True, but having thought about it for a while it just struck me as a bit unprofessional and not the sort of thing that a manager, whose job is to motivate should say in an interview. He might think it privately, but shouldn't express it as he has.

Up front with JCH, Timmy to you, Timmy to you Heard he’s got a right foot like a Mallett...Wacaday! 😂 ...but seriously, if there is any sibling rivalry between him and Tap-in he’ll want to prove a point if this is his first real chance so I think he’ll be “utterly brilliant!”

We played awful football under Coughlan, now we have a guy with no experience who is trying to (commendably) change the approach but has yet to win a game. Why would the top sides send their best youth here over the last year? I said a week or so ago that we’ll end up with the dregs of the better teams academies and I’ve not been proved wrong so far, although Ginnelly seems like he’s started well.

You say you haven't been proved wrong well you haven't been proved right either. Why can't we just see how players do after a number of games then judge them.

Yes, you have to see what they can do on the pitch of course, but at least going by the profile of Abraham, as posters have said above, he’s a sub for their under 23’s so in that sense not a key player- on paper at least. We just have to hope he can come good on grass. I’d rather we have at least one experienced player up front for the next 6 months though so we don’t have to cross our fingers over a load of loan signings hoping some of them turn out to be a gem.
