BG obvs looking to future and bringing in another higher level player who would have received the some sort of coaching that BG will be trying to implement at the gas. all things pointing to a young and developing side for the next few seasons.

Seems like a good signing, fingers crossed!
Will we be playing 3 CB's again then? We have a plethora of them at the moment and good ones at that!

I am puzzled by the transfer needing international clearance. He is British. What I have I overlooked? Football Association of Wales. Thanks Pirate. I did not realise that the home nations were also subject to international clearance. It proves that one is never too old to learn.

It's a pain in the arse. Even if a player has played one game at uni in Wales, you have to get international clearance, even at grassroots level

mods ! It would be good to get this lad's surname correct in the title thread.
TBH - he's the only player from the 3 today I've heard of. Interestingly - BG has signed 2 left footers today - always good to have a fair few lefties in a squad for balance. UTG !

He's a greaaat signing! For the future and this season already a left footed central defender is exactly the profile we needed. I really like the looking of the squad after only one month of market. This type of player signing for us really makes me glad. Hopefully a first victory for Ben coming now.

Undisclosed Fee, Wael splashing the cash! Could be £5! We've gone form Ogogo and JCH last January to signing young inexperienced players this year, starting to think BG is really Pirate in disguise? Surely we need a bit of experience in the side not just inexperienced youngsters, how about finally signing a decent replacement for Lines? Yes Topper I agree about needing experience but I think we’ve got that. Tony C, Tom D in defence, OC, Ed U, Ogogo, JCH all have experience. Tbf Garner has talked about more energy, more speed, more mobility and these players all seem to fit what he’s been talking about. Whether they are successful remains to be seen. Fingers crossed they are. UTG!

Tony Mowbray on Harries: “He’s a young boy with a phenomenal talent,” said the now Blackburn Rovers boss when in charge of the Sky Blues in 2015. “On the technical side there’s nobody better than this lad in our division. “But he needs the time to develop, get some bulk in his body, add the qualities that will help him as a footballer. “We have to be patient with him because in a year, maybe two years, when he bulks up, develops a man’s mentality, and understands the competitive world he’s in, then we’ll have a footballer that will be a huge asset for this club.” www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/nobody-better-lad-division--3811370

I guess he never progressed as 4 years later he was released w/o ever playing a league game!
Surely BG's not going to start over Craig v Wycombe?

Do you ever check your facts Topper because you are wrong again? Harries played in 9 league games and 8 cup games for Coventry and was then signed by Swansea in the Premier League for a fee believed to be an initial £250,000 rising to £1million. He played in a couple of league games in the championship and a few cup games for them. It's not really surprising he didn't get more opportunities at Swansea as at times he had the likes of Alfie Mawson (signed for £6m, sold for £15m), Federico Fernandez (signed for £9m, sold for £6m) and Mike Van der Horn (signed for £2.25m) ahead of him in the pecking order.

According to Wiki he never played a league game for Swansea just an EFL game and one other cup game, so that fact seems correct, he never played a league game for Swansea, even from the bench. If he still was some potential future star then I can't see Swansea being content to let him leave on a free. Time will tell if he does have what is needed at this level.

Regardless, if the manager sees a great potential in him, he is still young enough to realise it. Perhaps, just guessing, it all went to his head a bit and he started believing his own PR. Chance for him to make his mark then at a decent sized L1 club and make his name. If it works, everybody wins. Let's judge it after a good number of games, like the balance of the season. This goes for all the new signings, who appear to be at the same point in their career. If this works could be an exciting period coming up. Personally it's a breath of fresh air, beats buying or signing journeyman, non performers or overpaid types whose previous club are desperate to offload.

Moral of the story, don't believe everything you read on Wikipedia and try and use it as fact. Last season he played in 2 Championship games for Swansea, away at Aston Villa and at home to Wigan. He also played in 3 FA Cup games v Villa, Brentford and Man City, and a League Cup game v Crystal Palace.
