The First Team Squad
Jaakkola Van Stappershoef Blackman (loan)
Leahy Holmes-Dennis Kelly Little Hare Kilgour Craig Davies Menayese Harries
Ogogo Clarke Upson Sercombe Rodman Hargreaves Matthews Bennett Barrett Ginnelly (loan) Mitchell-Lawson (loan)
Clarke-Harris Reilly Daly Abraham (loan)
I’m very surprised we didn’t see more outgoings. If everyone’s fit, we suddenly have a lot of options. Who do you think are bankers to move on in the summer? What do you think are the strengths and weaknesses. What’s our best formation and starting eleven going forward? Also, let me know if I missed anyone out.

4_3_3 or 3_5_2 ?
Weirdly confident, Rich start the bus.

Blackman Little Kilgour Davies Thd
Upson Clarke
Rodman. Barrett. Ginnelly
JCH
Subs: JVS, Craig, Harries, ogogo, sercombe, Abraham, daly
What a squad!
And any one of those on the bench is more than good enough. What a transfer window. Gotta get right behind the boys now.

Before you get excited, how many league appearances have these signings had between them? Under 23 football and the like is pretty Tippy Tappy, the league is a lot different. So lets write this season off, (at the halfway point) because our new manager couldn't wait to change things, and one of them is the spirit that they had.

Let us have our five minutes of positivity before reality kicks in at 4:45 again.

I’m so confused as to what’s happening with the board. We get told so often about cutting the wage bill and living within the Financial fair play limits and then when it comes down to it, we have surely increased our wage bill during this window. Barrett, Daly and Harries, though young and relatively unproven, all come from higher leagues with good reputations. Whilst they won’t be top earners here they won’t have come cheap either. We’ve only lost Mensah off the wage bill and how much of Nichols’ wage we’re still paying, I have no idea. I can’t help thinking that we were banking on selling JCH last night. That he’s still here, obviously makes us stronger in the short run but those wage bill concerns and need to balance the books are not going to go away in the summer unless things really do change behind the scenes. That could either be with new owners or a change of strategy from the Al Qadis. I remain really worried about our future, as it’s clearly unsustainable how we are operating at present. If JCH bangs in a hatful over the next few months then that may solve a few of our problems. Anyway, what will be will be. It’s going to be very interesting how Garner puts his team together. When all are fit, I think something like the following could work:
Jaakkola
Hare Kilgour or Davies Craig or Harries Holmes-Dennis
Upson
Clarke Ogogo
Sercombe or Barrett or Ginnelly
Clarke-Harris Daly
On paper we have a lot of attacking options now, but it obviously remains to be seen whether Barrett and Daly can prove to be the real deals.
Picking the team in the next few weeks could be just as hard as it used to be under DC!

What I can't understand is why we've kept so many, now, seemingly fringe squad players, like Kelly, Andre, Little assuming Hare's almost fit, Matthews, Rollin, Tomlinson etc, why didn't we off load any of those, particularly Kelly & Rollin who you assume would probably be snapped up by L2 sides? Plus surely somebody would have taken Bennet off our hands if we'd offered to meet most of his wages?

Any chance we could offload some of the participants to this thread to other clubs?
It appears to me the club can do nothing right in their eyes.

Or an afternoon in the stocks for the the young pirates to chuck stuff at.

With the loan window open, I would expect a few of those to go out to ease the wage bill, and one or two may not come back.

Now that Kule is still with us I would start with him as a wide man, not bogged down in the middle of the field.

Think Garner will try to keep Sercombe as he speaks very highly of him. I guess THD if he can't prove his fitness and possibly Kelly might struggle to get new contracts as well. I would like to see Menayese stay but a loan for 6 months to a league 2 team might be a compromise and if he goes we should certainly be looking for a fee. I guess Mathews has 3 months to show he has the fitness and quality for a new contract. Be interesting to see if Craig is offered a coaching role but he might prefer a role closer to family home?

Mathew's is in a better position than he was though. Yes the eis more competition but I have no doubt that he wouldn't have been given an opportunity by GC and would def have been released in the summer. BG might just give him a chance, given his philosophy.

I was thinking of a player coach role too. In terms of family I recall an interview on the BBC with him suggesting they may move here too. Don't know if they did.
