I don't know why people try to talk sense on here.
If the club had listened to the football geniuses on here, Darrell Clarke would have been sacked after 5 weeks; Matty Taylor released half way through our conference season; Lockyer would never make it above League 2; Bodin was a waste of wages permacrock; JCH a desperate signing who would never score goals; and, of course, Ricky Lambert was a fat useless midfielder.
If you ever held any of these opinions, then have a bit of humility, remember that you don't know everything and that sometimes things take time, and maybe stick to the knob jokes.
I remember us being booed off the pitch having lost our first game back in the league 1-0 against the eventual runaway champions.

Just noticed, for the record, that we've actually pulled away from the relegation zone (ie won more points that Tranmere) since GC left.

I mean no offence here, surely you are not that blinkered? You're just looking at the results and not the circumstances behind them.
How about being the 4th manager in 4 games? Not ideal is it.
How about the mounting injury list? Not ideal again.
How about only having a small squad to choose from - who are very tired due to playing so many games in a short period of time? Again not ideal. How about games coming thick and fast and unable to take proper training sessions? Is that not ideal? How about trying his best under the above circumstances and have on his mind what was going on at home, before going on leave?
Do you think all of that above is not an awful situation for any new manager at any new club? No wonder that hasn't been wins or goals.
May sound like just excuses to you or others, but they are actually facts of what has happened to BG.
So come Saturday there will be no excuses left if we lose? As BG will have a virtually full squad to choose from, a full weeks training etc? What a strange comment. You think 1 full weeks training with virtually a full squad to choose from, is enough to say there is no excuses left for BG? You realise right that Ollie said on Saturday that it will take a few more weeks for the fitness of the players will match what BG wants them to do on the pitch? Again you are not taking details into consideration. Very blinkered. As the player get more fit, performances will improve and so will results. That simple.

Most of those reasons applied equally to Coughlan, but he seemed to muddle through and get us to 4th place. I'm not anti-Garner, but some people seem determined to dismiss this truly shocking run and defend anything. I don't really understand why. He's had a terrible start. Really. However you look at it. Let's see how it's looking at the end of the season. Much better, I hope. It can't get worse, after all. Best of luck to him. I disagree. Out of the 5 things that I listed, only 1 applied to GC - which was the mounting injuries.
GC wasn't the 4th manager in 4 games.
GC didn't have a tired squad to choose from. He had a small squad due to injuries but they were not tired. The squad became tired around the time GC left because he had to keep using them due to the mounting injuries. That wasn't GC's fault but BG is paying for it now.
GC didn't have the amount of games coming thick and fast that BG had to deal with. BG has had 11 games in 34 days and 10 of those days he wasn't even at the club. GC was able to have plenty of training with the team whereas BG hasn't yet. GC didn't need leave away from the club like BG did.
I am defending him because although he has had a shocking start, I actually recognise the many reasons why and can see the bigger picture of what's to hopefully come in the long run.

So what's the point of turning up for the rest of the season if the playstation manager is using it as his apprenticeship and treating the games as pre season friendlies until next season? Will the price of tickets be reduced to reflect these kickabouts until August? If this continues will be interesting to see the rush for season tickets.

We hope!! No guarantee though. Ollie has more bad games than good so has he always been unfit?

I have seen half a season of competitive football and at the end of the season I will have seen a half season experiment. Personally I was looking forward to being in the play offs, right until the final whistle at Ipswich. Garner who had been at the Mem for two weeks before GC left has taken over a winning team. We have a defence that is suited to 3 Ch's and 2 wing backs. It has been with us since game 3 when I think GC realised we didn't have the players for a back 4, especially with 2 full backs who spend more time injured than playing. Garner has come in and done something incredibly naieve, and that is "change a winning team". Given that a new manager usually has a "bounce" we should have gone to second, but what a disaster it has been, and all because he has upset the winning team by changing it. Just think if he had brought in a creative midfielder and another striker, and maybe a temporary right back then we would have no doubt maintained our position. We would have beaten Stevenage too.
I'm really gutted that Garner has come in to the club and immediately started to change the team to suit him, not the players, or the supporters, but him and his own desire. After winning at the Shrews and Ipswich and hitting 4 past Southend we really had a team that was solid and could score goals.
Now we have neither.

Did anyone at the start of the season truly think we would be challenging for a top 6? I doubt many would think that. So on your theory, what is the point in turning up at the start of the season and throughout the season for a mid table finish?

Cj. Because the guy himself said he could play a style to win games.but wants to go down his path. That's experimentation that you do pre season. We had a very slim chance of achieving something we have rarely done if it was left alone. Again what's the incentive to go and watch matches at full price for this computer gamer to not treat a game competitively ?
This is the first time that I can recollect that the result doesnt seem to matter to a manager.

Pretty sure we've played a back 5 for more if BGs games then not. And I've not really seen much change in playing style, despite this forum narrative that seems to have been created. The new manager bounce happens when a failing manager is replaced, not when a winning manager buggers off to another club when he has pound notes waved at him, with virtually no notice period. There's only one person to blame for our post GC demise imo, and that's GC for leaving half way through a job.
