If 'tactical periodisation' is the method used by the likes of Coventry, Doncaster and Peterborough - I'll buy into that and sit back and enjoy the ride.
If so called Third Division teams are capable of producing that kind of football then why eventually can't we (especially on our quality pitch!).

People want us to bore the crowd to no end, playing hoof ball tactic, all the good footballing teams all over the world do it don't you know.. haven't you watched Barca, Real, Bayern, Liverpool, Man City, Spurs... trust me there are some expert tacticians on here and their Sunday league experience should be listened to.

Who remembers when a load of belters wanted Darrel Clarke sacked during the first few months of the conference season? He turned out alright.
Re: Tactical Periodisation, sounds a good concept to me - especially that Eddie Jones quote, 95% physical work with the ball, brilliant idea.

We are the Gas, League 1. Not Liverpool. Tactical periods are all well and good when you are scoring goals and a winning mentality is within the squad. Ben Garner should have kept our momentum going when he was appointed, " keep doing what you are doing lads " approach. Then start to have a tinker and mould what he wants. But no, casts a spell which equates to 14 games with no win. Planning for the future is all well and good...what about the here and now. Seems to me Ben Garner can talk the talk in spades. Pre and post match he spouts the same old stuff, and it is not happening is it Ben. He sounds all theory, hiding as a No 2 or 3 in his previous roles. Graham Coughlan looked and sounded the part...he had spirit and was 100% Gas. Even if we stay up,another 2.5 years of Ben Garner does not appeal. UTG.

With respect, if GC was 100% Gas, he would still be here now !!!!!

so in other words, you train and get your fitness by creating match day conditions. And that’s original! ? Fitness training with the ball has been around for years. They’ve just given it a fancy name. Like I say, total garbage. It’s all a con.

And in the 85th min when you are 1.0 down you leather it as fast and far down the pitch as possible. All the fancy words and playstation tactics go out of the window.

Tactical periodisation is a theory that combines the practising of skills, fitness and tactical and mental awareness in each training session at intensity, so that the players learn to react quicker, or be sharper, at crucial points in games. The tactical periodisation theory was probably introduced 25/30 years ago, so you're right in in one respect, it has been around for "years".

Every profession has its buzz words and this phrase appears to be doing the rounds at the moment within professional football circles. At presentI it does not seem to be achieving sparkling results with Rovers.
It is clear that some members of the current squad are unable to play the BG way. If so, they have to go and be replaced with players who can. This summer's transfer window will be very interesting.

Not sure if he came as far as Weston 😝 Watching his son Romeo play for Millfield U18s

It might be me but I think there’s a kind of football snobbery involved here. Coughlan’s way was fairly agricultural but I loved watching other teams struggle against it. Garner’s way is obviously more cultured and cerebral but, for me, it’s passionless. It’s not unlike Chess. Great to play but crap to watch.

Sounds like bullshit buzzword bingo to me. Just because someone says they’re using a technique doesn’t mean they’re anymore capable than anyone else. They’re just clued up in their academia of the field. How often do you come across someone who uses buzzwords to describe something that’s just good sense in your profession that you’ve been doing for years but didn’t have a buzz word for - it was just clear common sense.

It's like Garner with his neuro Linguistics degree and UEFA pro licence etc. Really done him good so far hasn't it. 🤔

If you can't even be bothered to brush up on neuromuscular mesocycyes and microcircular anaerobics then why are you even posting on here?
