We missed a great opportunity with the airfield Bought up by YTL way before we were in a position to do anything about it, and probably out of our price range too. But I know what you mean. I doubt land at Filton would cost anything like the rumored £50m+ for the FM site.

Was probably an all or nothing deal as not worth BAC or whoever retaining any of it.

I suppose a couple of miles north of Slough is out of the question.
So:
Somewhere with good access from the Motorway network, with good parking. Filton would have potential.

I’d of loved Filton Airfield. But I thought Bovis have had quite a bit of that land tied up for years as part of the expansion of Charlton Hayes.

Was probably an all or nothing deal as not worth BAC or whoever retaining any of it. The total land bank including the massive Brabazon hanger (all 1m cubic feet of it) was £65m That's everything from the railway / A38 to CATBRAIN hill at the far end. Bonus for YTL.

Looks like the public have spoken with more votes for the fruit market than all the others added together

Coming in along the A4 it has to be the fruit market for me. Plus I see my chances of attending increasing if the wife drops me off and spends the afternoon in town! After that anything on the ring road would make life easier than the mem!

Can you claify that the airfield sale included the land behind the Brabzon hanger, which happens to be within Bristols boundry, or was the all of it? The railway line is the boundry between Bristol and South Gloucestershire councils.

I’ve never felt so much pain at a post in my life, you mean you see your wives chances of attending town for the afternoon increasing whilst you attend matches haha

Loads of independent breweries within walking distance of fruit market. I'm in! Having temple meads on the doorstep will really help too for transport links.

The planning application for the arena at the Brabazon hangers was dealt with by Bristol City Council and that included land behind (ie on the Bristol side) of the hangers.

Just the land if the rumours are true, as far as Filton was concerned I was just referring to buying enough land for a stadium not the whole airfield. You'd assume YTL would want a stadium built next to the Arena to make it the go to place for entertainment in the south west.

Stop press, UWE BACK ON! ready in 5years! oops sorry, its Uwe without the 'e'! its University of Warwick and its with Coventry, ah well! Such a waste of 30,000 sky blue plastic seats at the Ricoh. Apart from anything else, they clash horribly with the Wasps colours.
