A very reassuring signing for me. Look forward to seeing him play for us.

He’s only just signed a new contract so I’d assume he is in BG’s plans. Normally attacking and possession based football is started with 3 at the back, cause you’ve got the cover needed when the full backs are attacking, so I’d image it’s gonna be a 3-5-2 or 3-4-3, with the latter making room for wingers as the front three. Being slightly cynical but you'd want him signing a new deal purely because of sell on value at the moment, but you're right that he's likely in the plans. Agree that the 3 at the back seems like the reasonable solution but even then you have 6 CBs on pro deals and that's before you start to include the likes of Grant and Little who can play there. Seems like an awful amount of money to have spent on one position when we have glaring frailties in other places. Although if Davies is out until at least January and Rollin went out on loan then you'd still have 4 players available who can all seemingly do a job in league one so maybe that's what ends up happening. If we're going to develop youngsters into £1m+ player then surely AK's the perfect player to develop, Oxford are apparently hoping to get £3m for Rob Dickie this summer who I doubt was a better prospect than AK at his age.

I think BG has signed well so far, be interesting to see who else actually comes in now.

Welcome to the gas Jack, look forward to seeing in the quarters. Really starting to feel positive about the club again, long may it continue.

I like Alfie, but could he find himself as a victim of Garner's intent to play from the back? Ends up as RB2 and CB3. I can see us playing a variant of 3 at the back in some shape or fashion. speculative/for illustrative purposes and so no nit picking anybody -----Baldwin--Ehmer---Kilgour Rodman---Ogogo---Grant---Leahy --Nicholson-----------------Daly-- ---------------JCH-------------

Although that CM looks as inspiring as OC/Ogogo/Upson if Grant is going to be played as a DCM, having spent big on 3 players hopefully we've enough in the kitty to sign a decent ACM. Daly looks an out and out No 10 to me so is role would better suit a fit Barrett.

Good point also, but I think Kilgour will be a very important player this year, and Yh we do have 6 and maybe with the Ehmer singing it will be 7 but I would say it’s better to do you business like this rather than lose a few players and then you have to go out looking. I’d expect to see a couple leave on loan.

I think Ogogo will be a bit part player this year, which is a shame as he looked decent last year, but I don’t think he’s what garner wants or looks for, Rodman will be sub if hare is fit, Leahy has been a frustrating one because he looks brilliant sometimes and then has a shocker, wouldn’t be surprised if we bring in a left sided attacking full back, and assuming that Barrett gets fit he’ll be the other centre mid.

This is a very encouraging signing. He has the potential to play at a higher level, is young ( for a defender) and has buckets of experience. What is there not to like?
