Seems as though the coronavirus has finally hit home at our football club. Some office staff and the shop staff have been offered the chance to take voluntary redundancy. Sad that it has come to this, but I suppose it is inevitable given that there is no money coming in. It will be a rather strange experience going in the shop. But it then begs the question, who will be behind the counter? With the 233% increase in sales volumes recently reported it must have been the last thing on the minds of the staff. So the key word is "voluntary". No one loses their job that doesn't want to lose their job in other words. You are a happy chap!

Notice gasincider has once again thrown his grenade into the pond and disappeared again. Trying to spread doom and despondency in the midst of good news about the training ground and new signings (apparently working within a restricted budget). All businesses are going through hard times. My daughter has a small beauty salon. With the Government backtracking 2 days before a full reopening she is having to make difficult decisions on whether she can afford to keep on staff and a younger lesser skilled girl may have to go whilst she retains the more experienced technically better ones. At least the club is offering voluntary redundancy. They could have chosen to force them out as the 82ers have done. I know which is a darn site better. But hey if it fits a sad agenda to do as much damage to morale then I am sure he will be back once he has something else to moan about. I thought at one time he had genuine reasons for opposing the current regime but any sympathy I had has waned at the continuing destructive moaning, bitterness, and willing destructiveness in his posts. I genuinely feel sorry for the guy. Perhaps if he hung around to respond to opposing posts and answered questions put to him then there might be an ounce of interest and constructive dialogue. He made the OP, just gave news of it, got slagged it could or was lies, it was proved right. I don’t see anything other than him giving the news before the club. Funny old game

What I find interesting is anyone 'liking' the op. Or any bad news for that matter.. I tend to like stuff that is informative (and probably with a link to a source), among other things, so I imagine it's just a 'thanks for letting me know,' like. Please can we have a: 'thanks for letting me know,' like acknowledgement button!?? 😋

Funny old game KP, reading it back through the fact that people challenged his motivation and the fact it was voluntary not mandatory redundancy does not amount to slagging him off. He has a habit of throwing grenades in the pond and then disappearing. I am happy to have a grown up debate with anyone but its hard to debate with someone who likes to constantly talk about the 'bad' things (as he sees them) that are happening and then buggers off without responding to constructive comments and challenges. I would have far more respect for an individual who disagrees with the ownership and management who was prepared to stand by and debate his comments rather than hit and run. You are always prepared to debate the points you have made and never hide and for that you have my utmost respect. Sadly I cannot say the same of gasincider at this time. Regards

I guess the news that Arsenal are making 55 jobs redundant (not proposed, not voluntary) in the football, commercial and administration departments despite
- Arsenal's first-team players and head coach Mikel Arteta agreeing a pay cut to help with the financial impact of the coronavirus pandemic by having their annual earnings reduced by 12.5% - Arsenal's executive team also agreed to waive a third of their salaries for 12 months - winning the FA Cup prize money they did not budget for And entrance into the Europa League with lucrative TV rights - having a newish stadium with multiple non football revenue streams In a normal non COVID19 year - PL TV and top ten prize money
puts into perspective the news we’ve had to consider voluntary redundancies ourselves. This is not a criticism of Arsenal, whose football empire is naturally more costly to run at the level they have to perform at, just that, even with their access to more revenue streams than us and several selfless actions by the better paid individuals at the club, they still couldn’t see a way past tightening their ecomonic belt in the form of restructuring their workforce and therefore any implied criticism of Rovers dealing with COVID19 by offering voluntary redundancy is a bit rich.
The Rochdale Chairman’s letter to fans admits they are down £625k in the period from March. Each month the furlough scheme saves them £125k of a £250k total outgoings, and they are expecting to lose more per month once they are paying for repeated tests and taking more support staff off furlough. This shows you just what a commitment our owner has made covering the anticipated losses that COVID19 will make to us, which will no doubt be more per month than Rochdale’s.
