Likewise unless Ayunga had a fantastic preseason I'd be surprised to see him starting over Daly/our last signing this summer.

Interesting how everyone has luke Leahy in their side after he's become the most slated bloke on here Probably more to do with lack of options at LWB than anyone particularly rating Leahy. I hope we bring in a new 1st choice in that position.

I just feel that grant being the only defensive minded mf player could overload him. Its a safety first kind of team admittedly. I don't necessarily see wing backs as a defensive ploy though. Just like someone else said on here, I'd like two strikers but just feel that daly and Ayunga need a bit of time to bed in first.

I have a lot of faith in him though that as a wing back and with Hare on the other flank, this could be our winning ticket. I really think there is a player there in LL

For versatility, I would like to see us sign a couple of wingers and another striker so we could go with a more traditional 4-4-2 if needed. I think that's all we need now.

Interesting that the guy interviewed on the latest Gascast episode, said that Westbrooke is very much a "box to box" style midfielder, and he suggested he'd be better off on the right-hand side of a midfield 3 in a 4-3-3 formation. Throwing this option into the mix, it could look something like this:
--------------Jaakola ----Hare--Kilgour--Ehmer--Leahy Westbrooke--Grant--Barrett/Hargreaves -- Daly/Rodman--JCH--Nicholson
Bench: JVS, Kelly, Baldwin, Ogogo, Barrett/Hargreaves, Ayunga, Rodman/Daly
If everyone stays fit, we should have a wide variety of formations that we could reliably choose from depending on our opposition or circumstances during a match. In theory of course....
Exciting times!

Upson or Grant holding position in front of a flat back four (Upson has the experience but I think Grant is the future and may be a gem of a player). Left back is an issue if its a flat back four I would not be surprised to see CH played there. For a front three I believe JCH and SN are givens , leaving Daly Rodman and Ayunga contesting the other position.

For me, his issue when playing wing back is that his forward passes let him down and he also should get more goals as he does get into some great positions. He's a defender who has been converted to a LM /wing back. If we don't add at LB then I'd pick him ahead of Kelly but would prefer him in a back 4 if we play that way with Nicholson ahead of him. If we play 3 -5-2 I wouldn't play him.

I personally think he is better in a 3-5-2 as he has more cover for his poor defensive qualities and can get forward more where he is better. Syaing you would prefer him over Kelly is like saying you would prefer Nichols over Reilly. Yes he is probably better but doesn't mean we shouldn't be looking to improve in that position.

433 GK- Ansi LB- Leahy CB- Ehmer CB- Kilgour RB- Hare CM- Grant CM- Ogogo CAM- Westbrooke LW- Nicholson ST- JCH RW-Rodman
Or swap Nicholson into RW with Barrett instead of Rodman.

For me I still can't work out a starting eleven or what formation we will use, all the players that have left have gone down a level, the players that have come in have less first team experience in total, but on average are younger with potential to go upward. The questions to be answered are. 1) Will the new players turn out to be better than those they have replaced 2) Will JCH sign a new contract 3) Will BG be as good at game management as GC
