Yes. I think keeping everyone happy will be hard. None of them have signed to sit on the bench, if we’re winning, doing well, top 8 then they’ll have no complaints and it will manage itself but if we’re mid-table or below it will be more difficult. Either way this season will test BGs man management as much as his tactical nous and ability to win football matches I think. As others have said, Wael has backed BG big-time now BG has to produce a top 8 finish or near to. UTG! I don't understand the top 8 part..? Finishing 8th to me is the same as finishing 10th,15th or 16th etc...Not going up , not going down. I think with the backing BG has been given he much be challenging for the top six and the playoffs. On paper we are strong enough to do this. I would accept a 8th placed finish this season for the building blocks for promotion the season after tho. We do look very strong on paper, but if we aren't challenging at the top end, then some will get on BG and the players' backs which is what worries me. There are going to be lot of very strong teams in the league this year, so us challenging with a largely new squad will still be a big step. Possible yes, but not a given.

Given that it sounds like we'll be playing 3 games a week if we manage any decent cup runs then BG should be able to keep all 22 players happy. We just need to get off to a good start, when are fixtures lists out it can't be long now it our first fixture is 4 weeks next Saturday? It’s a good point but I doubt it will be 3 a week. Probably 2 a week and even that may keep them all happy. My point still stands I think, keeping them happy will still be very important. UTG!

I’ve said all along that I’m looking forward to challenging at the top end this coming season but failure to get promotion shouldn’t mean failure. Im surprised you don’t understand the top 8 bit because I’d suggest if we finish 8th then it’s likley we would have been challenging at the top end of the table even if, we just miss out. And I’d disagree over it being the same as finishing 15th or 16th, finishing 8th could mean we did really well and just fell away in April/ May. 15th/16th could mean a seasons struggle and bobbing along in lower mid table. Very different imo. I agree about the “with backing BG MUST be challenging for the top six...”. I think finishing 8th as I’ve tried to explain could meet that requisite and like you I would also accept an 8th place finish for the building blocks for promotion perhaps the season after. UTG!

Agreed. Don’t see the problem with ambition. Nothing wrong with ambition. Just think you should keep targets like that close to your chest otherwise you are putting extra unnecessary pressure on yourself. No biggy just my opinion.

Another shrewd signing and another exciting wideman to bolster the squad so I'm pleased. We've had a superb summer to date and if I could be a bit greedier for a little bit longer, I'd like a LB and another striker to supplement JCH's new contract please

He managed to create something out of nothing on a regular basis, even from the service or Ogogo, Upson, Clarke and Little. I’m looking forward to the opportunities he can create and contribute to now he’ll have Westbrooke, Hare and Barrett servicing him more. What Upson didn't create ??

Yeah I agree with the above. If we finish 8th and like you said - sadly dropped away in the final weeks ( like we did under Holloway 20 years ago) but this time we keep our top players for the 2022 season ( Unlike we did under Ian Holloway with Roberts, cureton, Walters etc...) then that's a success and building for a promotion push.

Having read the link that Gaswood posted I couldn't see where JML said he is targeting 10 goals. He does says he wants to do what he did last season but 10 times better. If you are trying to link it to goals compared to last season then the link says he scored against Wycombe and Southend so 10 times better would mean that he wants to score 20 goals. He’s said it in his interview on the Rovers social media channels. He said along the lines of “I got 2 last season and that was only half a season so hopefully this season I’m aiming for 10 and above”. Nothing wrong with aiming high 👍

No wonder JML has signed for us, I see Derby are in trouble after breaking the fair play rules, they are facing a 12point deduction there debt over the past three years are well over what's allowed. Maybe easier for the league to just dock every club 12 points in the Championship most of them appear to be corrupt and breaking rules, perhaps their owners should all be sent back to school to be re-educated, in the case of the s**t all the supporters should be sent back as well. There would be a problem for the s**t then once educated they would see the error of their ways and the club would loose it's support.

Refreshing to hear his confidence. Long may it remain. Probably gives us a clue as to why he performed so well in a team that was underperforming.

It’s becoming quite clear, given our signings and how things are shaping up that we will water this league. I don’t think we should get carried away but we will probably have it won by February.

He wants to make it as a professional footballer and is prepared to go on record with his prediction. It shows confidence, he’s pushing himself and expects . It’s to be applauded

I really liked him last season , when Garner took over we were pretty much crap going forward other than Lawson. Even Jono looked lost most of the time . I’mreally pleased he’s come back and not surprised either , he looked like he was enjoying his football , obviously we weren’t clicking generally but individually he looked like he was relishing every game , that’s what you need , get 11 on the pitch every game with that kind of attitude and you’ll win promotion.
